Product catalog summary
Functional Description
The SAAC system is designed to provide shielding gas to the ladle shroud gasket, protecting the steel from air contact. This prevents unwanted oxidic inclusions and nitrogen enrichment, which can negatively affect steel properties. The system offers various functions that can be selected by the operator or through a predefined algorithm.

Pressure Control Mode
In this mode, the system regulates positive pressure at the gasket based on process parameters. It remains active as long as the flow is within limits, serving as the standard operation mode under normal conditions.

Flow Control Mode
This mode maintains a constant flow rate according to parameters and is used when gasket conditions are unstable or when the required flow rate exceeds certain limits.

Anti Splash Mode
Activated manually when bath agitation is high, this mode regulates flow to a safe state. If back pressure normalizes, the system automatically switches back to Pressure Control Mode.

Status Indication
The system uses three lamps to indicate status:
  • Green: Pressure is within limits, indicating good working condition.
  • Orange: Pressure is below the lower limit, suggesting possible leakage.
  • Red: Pressure is above the upper limit, indicating a blockage with no shielding effect.

Gas Control Station for Ladle Shroud shielding-1

SAAC System for Ladle Shroud Shielding The SAAC system provides shielding gas to the ladle shroud gasket. The shielding effect is used to protect the steel from air contact. Oxygen from ambient air may cause unwanted oxidic inclusions. Ambient air may cause also nitrogen enrichment, which may have a negative influence on some steel properties. To protect the steel stream inside the ladle shroud the FC Technik AG SAAC system provides different functions. The adequate function can be selected by operator interaction or by predefined system algorithm.

Pressure Control Mode: In the Pressure Control Mode the SAAC system will regulate the positive pressure at the gasket according to process parameter. The Pressure Control Mode will be activated as long as the flow is within its limits. This is the standard operation mode when conditions are normal at the gasket. Flow Control Mode: In the Flow Control Mode the SAAC System maintains a constant flow rate according to the parameters. This mode of operation should be activated when the conditions at the gasket are unstable and undefined as well as when the flow rate required to maintain the predefined...
