High-Speed, Low-Side Gate Drivers Product Overview - 1

HIGH-SPEED, LOW-SIDE DRIVERS 1 A to 9 A Drivers with Flexible Options to Fit Every Design Need The FAN3100 and FAN3200 series of low-side driver families offer 70 different devices that provide choices of 1 A, 2 A, 4 A or 9 A current ratings in single- or dual-channel versions in either commercial or automotive AEC-Q100 qualified grades. The families offer an unequaled combination of fast switching, smaller size and design flexibility options for driving power switches and relays. These drivers offer multiple design advantages: high peak currents for efficient MOSFET and IGBT switching; amplification of the built-in output current of analog and digital controllers; removal of power dissipation from control ICs; ability to alleviate noise problems by placing near MOSFET(s) to minimize high-current loops and to move noise source away from sensitive control chips; and the easy implementation of additional features such as level shifting and timing delays. Features Automotive AEC-Q100 Qualified Devices Our best-in-class AEC-Q100 high-speed, low-side gate driver products are complemented by a full range of AEC-Q101 rated power MOSFETs. Fairchild has a focused automotive product line, with dedicated resources, for customer quality support including global power labs and regional applications support. Our automotive product development and manufacturing sites are QS-9000 and ISO/TS-16949 certified. Automotive products are manufactured and assembled in-house at Fairchild operated facilities. Under-voltage lockout for predictable startup • Short and well-controlled time delays (<20 ns) for paralleling, delay-timing and MHz switching • Fail-safe inputs to hold the output low if an input signal is absent • Industry’s smallest packages (2 mm x 2 mm and 3 mm x 3 mm MLP) as well as standard SOT-23 and SOIC-8 MillerDrive™ Output Architecture VDD Input • TTL or CMOS (VDD ratio) thresholds for logic-level compatibility and improved noise immunity Options for two inputs per channel for design flexibility Enable inputs which default to ON if not connected Input Stage Output • Compound MillerDriveTM architecture for strong gate drive during the Miller plateau region • Typically less than 15 ns rise and fall times at specified loads Applications • Switch-mode power supplies • DC--DC converters • Synchronous rectifier circuits • Motor control • Line drivers MillerDriveTM is a combination of bipolar and MOSFET devices, that speed up switching by providing high current during the Miller plateau region when the gate-drain capacitance of the MOSFET is being charged or discharged. The bipolar devices carry the bulk of the current during switching and the MOSFET devices pull the output to the HIGH or LOW rail at the end of the switching cycle. Use of bipolar devices allows the drivers to provide large currents over a wide range of supply voltage and temperature variations.
