1900 Series Multi-Stage Split Case Pumps

Product catalog summary
Introduction
The Fairbanks Nijhuis 1900 Series multistage split case pumps are engineered for high head applications across municipal, industrial, and commercial sectors. They support capacities up to 1800 GPM and heads up to 1200 feet, withstanding temperatures up to 275°F. The series includes models 1910, 1920, and 1940, each designed for specific installation scenarios, such as space limitations and flood protection.
Model Descriptions
  • Model 1920: Horizontally mounted, suitable for areas with ample floor space and no flood risk.
  • Model 1910: Vertically mounted, ideal for flood-prone areas, utilizing flexible shafting.
  • Model 1940: Vertically mounted with an elevated driver, optimal for limited floor space and marginal flood risk.
Standard Features
The pumps are constructed with bronze, feature dynamically balanced impellers, stainless steel components, and regreaseable ball bearings, ensuring durability and efficiency. Options for mechanical seals and various construction materials are available.
Optional Features
Customizable options include all iron or bronze construction, hardened stainless steel shaft sleeves, oil lubrication, and certified performance tests, allowing adaptation to specific operational needs.
Horizontal Pump Features
The split case design facilitates maintenance, with dynamically balanced impellers and bronze shaft sleeves to prevent wear. Interchangeable stuffing boxes and grease lubrication for bearings ensure a long service life.
Vertical Pump Features
Vertical models share features with horizontal pumps but include specific adaptations like coupling alignment and bearing protection to enhance performance and longevity in vertical installations.
Performance and Range Charts
Detailed range charts illustrate the performance capabilities of various models, emphasizing the importance of selecting the appropriate pump based on specific operational needs.
Engineering Specifications
Specifications for models 1920, 1910, and 1940 detail construction materials, performance capabilities, and operational conditions required for optimal pump performance, ensuring they meet rigorous application demands.
Material and Construction
Valves are designed for inline piping, constructed from Class 30 cast iron with a minimum tensile strength of 30,000 psi. Casings undergo a hydrostatic pressure test at 150% of the specified duty point. The design allows for the removal of the upper casing without disconnecting the piping, and pump sizes 2" and larger feature a multivolute design.
Components
Impellers are made of vacuum cast bronze, dynamically balanced, and securely fastened to the shaft. The pump shaft is constructed from high-grade SAE 1045 steel, protected by bronze sleeves, and equipped with Teflon® coated steel gaskets to prevent corrosion. Renewable bronze casing rings and heavy-duty grease-lubricated ball bearings are included.
Bearing and Housing Design
Bearing housings are designed to flush lubricant and provide continuous cleaning, with an average bearing life of 250,000 hours. The housings are moisture and dust-proof, ensuring permanent alignment.
Sealing Mechanisms
Stuffing boxes and mechanical seal boxes are used to seal the pump shaft. Models 1910 and 1940 feature mechanical seals with stainless steel parts and Buna-N elastomers. A bypass line ensures adequate venting and lubrication.
Mounting and Alignment
Pumps and motors are mounted on a common heavy baseplate, with alignment checked post-installation. Models 1920 and 1940 are flexible coupled to a standard NEMA motor.
Model Specifics
Model 1910 uses vertical open shaft pumps with flexible shafting, while Model 1940 features vertical flexible coupled pumps with a cast iron motor bracket for alignment.
