UM 2.1/2.2/2.3

Product catalog summary
Characteristic Features: The measurement evaluation units UM 2.1, UM 2.2, and UM 2.3 are designed for evaluating and displaying liquid levels in tanks. UM 2.1 uses a bar display and outputs two limit values. UM 2.2 provides outputs proportional to the filling level. UM 2.3 U/I uses a microprocessor and LED numeric display, also allowing two limit values to be set.
Safety Instructions: These units are intended solely for measuring tank filling levels. Unauthorized modifications or improper use can lead to damage. Only trained personnel should handle installation and maintenance, adhering to all safety regulations.
Structure and Operation: Each unit contains power supply and signal evaluation components. UM 2.1 features a light-strip indicator and potentiometers for setting limit values. UM 2.2 offers current and voltage outputs. UM 2.3 U/I includes a numeric display and configuration buttons.
Installation: Units must be installed in a weatherproof location with specific temperature conditions. Wiring should be done with the unit de-energized, following all relevant safety and technical regulations. Detailed connection instructions are provided for each unit type.
Technical Data: Each unit has specific technical specifications, including output types and connection requirements. UM 2.1 and UM 2.3 allow setting of limit values, while UM 2.3 requires configuration for tank data.
Decimal Point Configuration: Users can set the position of the decimal point for display purposes. Options include no decimal point, or placement after the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd digit. The desired position is set using the plus button and confirmed with the OK button.
Tank Design Configuration: The tank design must be configured using a numeric code to convert the filling level to liters. Options include linear tanks, cylindrical tanks, spherical tanks, plastic battery tanks, oval tanks, plastic tanks with recess, and semi-circular cisterns. The appropriate design is selected and confirmed using the plus and OK buttons.
Tank Volume Entry: The maximum total volume of the tank is entered as a 4-digit value in liters. For volumes larger than 9999 liters, the value is entered in cubic meters, and the decimal point position may need adjustment. Each digit is selected and confirmed sequentially.
Tank Height Entry: The tank height is entered as a 4-digit value in millimeters. Each digit is selected and confirmed sequentially.
Current Filling Level Entry: The current filling level is entered as a 4-digit value in millimeters. This requires prior installation of the level sensor. The setting is made when the tank is relatively full, and each digit is selected and confirmed sequentially.
Configuration Verification: After configuration, the displayed liquid volume may need verification and adjustment. This involves using a sounding stick and chart, and adjusting the display value using the plus and OK buttons.
Error Messages: If an error message appears during configuration, it must be acknowledged by pressing the OK button after resolving the issue. The setting mode will revert to the first configuration stage for re-entry.
Limit Values Setting: Limit values are set on the measurement evaluation unit by simulating input voltage and adjusting the limit signal potentiometers. The appropriate LED indicates the limit signal relay response, with a hysteresis of approximately 3% to prevent chattering.
Technical Data:
  • UM 2.1: IP 40 protection, 230 V auxiliary power, 0 to 10 V DC input, 0 V to 10 V output, red LED light-strip indicator with 5% resolution.
  • UM 2.2: IP 40 protection, 24 V or 230 V auxiliary power, 0 to 10 V DC input, 0 (4) to 20 mA and 0 V to 10 V output.
  • UM 2.3 U/I: IP 40 protection, 230 V auxiliary power, 0–10 V DC or 4–20 mA input, 2x floating changeover contact output, red LED-numeric display for liquid volume.
