Product catalog summary
Introduction
Facet potabilizers are designed for ships to treat water produced by evaporators, making it suitable for drinking through re-hardening and sterilization processes.
Re-hardening of Water
This process involves adding mineral salts to distilled water to achieve a pH between 7.5 and 8, ensuring it remains below 12 ºF. The water from onboard evaporators typically has a salinity of 0.5 to 4 ppm NaCl, a pH of ~6, and a CO2 content of 40 mg/l. The addition of mineral salts neutralizes CO2, increasing the pH.
Sterilization of Water
After re-hardening, the water is sterilized using ultraviolet radiation to eliminate bacteria. The water passes through a chamber with U.V. generators, which alter bacterial metabolism and inhibit reproduction, effectively sterilizing the water.
Mode of Operation
Facet fresh water potabilizers consist of two main parts: a re-hardening filter and a sterilizer. Distilled water is first passed through the re-hardening filter, then through the sterilizer for UV treatment. Models F-75 to F-2000-2 include a mineral salts regeneration system.
Options
Available options include skid assembly, UV sensor, automatic doser, active carbon filter, and various bypass configurations.
