Product catalog summary
Introduction to EUCHNER: EUCHNER GmbH + Co. KG is a prominent company in industrial safety technology, recognized for its innovative and high-quality switching systems. Based in Germany, it operates globally with over 500 employees.
Product Overview: EUCHNER provides a variety of safety products, including transponder-coded safety switches, interlocking systems, and access management systems like the Electronic-Key-System (EKS), along with other safety devices.
Electronic-Key-System (EKS): The EKS is an electronic access management system offering a secure alternative to password-based systems. It assigns responsibility to the key owner and is ideal for controlling access to critical system parameters.
Key Management: The Electronic-Key-Manager (EKM) software facilitates key management, storing access rights, personal data, and process-related information.
System Components: The EKS includes an Electronic-Key and an adapter, featuring a memory chip and antenna for contactless data transfer. Interface options include serial, USB, Ethernet, PROFIBUS, and PROFINET.
Advantages: EKS provides fast log-on, flexible access rights management, and enhanced security features, supporting quality assurance and compliance with standards like ISO 9000 and FDA 21 CFR part 11.
Integration and Use: The system integrates into PCs and control systems using ActiveX modules, supporting various communication protocols and process visualization software.
Version FSA: The FSA version is tailored for safety applications, offering additional outputs for safe shutdown signals, suitable for safety-relevant applications.
Technical Specifications: Detailed technical data is provided for different adapter interfaces, including dimensions, power supply, and data transfer rates.
Specifications: Adapters feature a plastic housing with IP67 protection, operating voltage between 20-28 V DC, and ambient temperature range of 0 to +55°C. Connection types include plug-in screw terminals and RJ45 sockets for Ethernet interfaces.
Interfaces and Data Transfer: Ethernet TCP/IP and PROFINET interfaces support data transfer rates of 10/100 Mbit/s, while PROFIBUS DP supports rates from 9.6 kbps to 12 Mbps, with specific LED indicators for operational status.
Electronic-Key Features: Each key has a unique 8-byte serial number for secure identification and a memory capacity of 116 bytes for read/write operations, with a data retention time of 10 years at 55°C.
Software Tools: Transponder Coding software allows key data reading and writing on a PC, while EKM software manages keys in a central database with configurable fields and user management.
Accessories: Includes a PC mounting frame for 5.25" drive bay installation and an internal USB connection cable for motherboard connections.
Connection Cables: Serial interface requires a SUB-D plug/socket with a maximum length of 5 m, and USB interface uses standard USB cables with a maximum length of 3 m.
Ordering Information: Lists manuals and software available for download or on CD, including ActiveX® modules and EKM software in demo, single-user, and full versions.
Contact Information: Provides detailed contact information for EUCHNER representatives in various countries worldwide.
Support and Downloads: EUCHNER offers a support hotline for technical questions and a comprehensive download area on their website for operating instructions, CAD or ePLAN data, and accompanying software, along with customer-specific solutions and a worldwide sales network.

Electronic-Key-System-4

System overview With the Electronic-Key System (EKS), it does not matter if a password is forgotten. EKS is used for electronic access management on PCs and control systems. In principle EKS comprises two components: an Electronic-Key and the matching Electronic-Key adapter. Nowadays access rights are usually controlled by the issue of passwords. In practice, however, this often leads to unauthorized changes to systems. This is where the Electronic-Key System can be put to optimal use: in comparison to the issue of a password, considerably more responsibility is assigned to the owner of an Electronic‑Key....

Electronic-Key-System (EKS) All the advantages at a glance With EKS, very fast log-on is possible without the use of a password even on systems without a keyboard. In addition, it is sensible to program the application to permit system access only as long as the Electronic-Key is positioned in the Electronic‑Key adapter. Then when the Electronic-Key is removed, e. g. access to specific functions on the system is automatically inhibited. The user is responsible for organizing the programming of the application, integration in an overall system and assignment and use of the freely programmable...
