Magnetic Wet Drum Separator

Magnetic Wet Drum Separator

Magnetic Wet Drum Separator

Product catalog summary
Features
  • Utilizes Ferrite and Rare Earth magnetic elements for LIMS and MIMS applications.
  • Available in multiple drum diameters and widths to accommodate different capacities.
  • Includes an integral stainless steel tank and replaceable drum wear wrap.
Principle of Operation

The feed slurry, containing both magnetic and non-magnetic fractions, is directed into the separation zone. Magnetic material is lifted out of the slurry, traveling over alternating magnetic poles to remove entrapped non-magnetic particles before discharge.

Self-Levelling Counter-Rotation Unit

This unit combines the best features of conventional designs to produce a high-grade magnetic fraction with optimal efficiency.

Applications
  • Heavy media separation systems for coal washing or scrap metal recycling.
  • Iron ore beneficiation to increase grade and recovery.
  • Mineral processing for the removal or concentration of iron-bearing minerals.
Additional Features for Self-Levelling Unit
  • Maintains constant slurry level without adjusting discharge outlets.
  • Increased input capacity and high magnetic recovery with a built-in scavenging zone.
Optional Extras
  • Rubber tank and drum lining.
  • Trash screens in the feed box.
Counter-Current Tank (Steffenson Design)

Used in cleaner/finisher stages of iron ore beneficiation, this design can be installed singularly or as part of a multiple system to produce high-grade magnetic concentrate.

Other Tank Designs Available
  • Concurrent Tank
  • Counter-Rotational Tank
Important Factors for Sizing
  • Application type (e.g., heavy media operation, iron ore beneficiation).
  • Volumetric capacity of slurry (m³/hr).
  • Dry solids capacity (t/hr).
  • Solids content (%).
  • Percentage of solids that are magnetic.
  • Description of magnetic material.
Variables Affecting Magnetic Collection
  • Magnetic field strength must be sufficient for the minerals present.
  • Hydraulic capacity affects magnetic recovery related to flowrate.
  • High solids content can increase magnetic losses, reducing efficiency.
  • Magnetic loading limits must not be exceeded to prevent losses.
