Technical Description
The Cathodic Delaminator Model 602 is designed for rapid corrosion testing and quality control of coated metals. It consists of a control unit and a temperature control vessel with eight test receptacles, each with its own constant current source, allowing independent testing of up to eight specimens.

Purpose and Application
This equipment is used to assess the adhesion of coatings on metals, particularly after mechanical damage such as stone impacts or transport damage. It evaluates the effectiveness of corrosion protection systems, focusing on substrate preparation and coating composition.

Principle of the Test
The test involves creating a defined scratch on the coating using a scratching tool, exposing the metal. The specimen is then immersed in an electrolyte solution (0.5 N KOH) and secured with an alligator clip. The test runs for 30 minutes, after which the infiltration of the coating is assessed. The test helps identify pretreatment errors and coating infiltration in damaged areas.
