The Drying Time Recorder, Model 504-V, is designed for precise recording of the drying properties of paints and similar coatings. It automatically determines and registers the drying behavior by using a needle that slides over the coating film at a defined speed, producing tracks that vary according to the degree of dryness.
This equipment is used to assess the drying stages of coatings by calculating the time and track characteristics of the film under investigation.
The instrument features a metal body with a cover plate that holds six glass strips for coating application. It includes six testing needles fixed in a steel carrier device. The recorder offers 20 pre-programmed running times from 7.5 minutes to 96 hours, with additional times available upon request. The drying stages are indicated by different track patterns, such as no track, continuous track, rhombic track, and interrupted track.
Recommended accessories include the ERICHSEN Quadruple Film Applicator, Model 360, for even coating application, and optional brass weights to increase needle tracking force for resistant paints.
