Technical Description
Purpose and Application: The Pendulum Damping Tester, Model 299/300, is designed to evaluate the mechanical damping properties of paints, varnishes, and similar coatings. It operates by measuring the damping of oscillations of a standardized pendulum placed on the test surface, which correlates to the coating's softness.

Design and Function: The device includes a support and base plate with leveling screws, a specimen holder for test panels up to 250 x 100 x 15 mm, and an acrylic glass hood for protection. It is controlled via an external terminal. Two pendulums are available: one conforming to DIN 53 157 (König) and another to NF T 30-016 (Persoz). The pendulum alignment is automatic, enhancing efficiency.

Measuring Modules: There are two versions:

• Basic Version: Manual pendulum excursion using a lever mechanism.
• Automatic Version: Automatic pendulum excursion and actuation, offering user-friendly operation, consistent results, and easy pendulum type changes.

Both versions allow input of pendulum type on the control terminal, displaying oscillation number, test length, or period on a 4-digit LC display.

Reference Class: Both versions come with a Manufacturer’s Certificate M per DIN 55 350-18, detailing oscillation quantities, calibrating plate evenness, product identification, and calibration status.

Order Information: The tester is available without pendulum and measuring module. The package includes a protective hood, calibrating plate with certificate, box level, and operating instructions.

Accessories: Pendulums for König and Persoz measurements, and measuring modules for both basic and automatic versions are available, each with a Manufacturer’s Test Certificate. Older equipment can be retrofitted with new modules.
