The industry demands aside the application of temperature sensors in various types of gears or in wheelset bearing also for oil level gauges. EPHY-MESS product portfolio comprises standard oil level gauges as well as special protected double window gauges optimized for the use under harsh environmental conditions. In the underfloor zone of rail vehicles mechanical strains or rockfall generate high risk for devices located there. EPHY-MESS oil level gauges are also used in very rough and industrial environments like in the mining industry. The oil levels of traction gears, brakes or various types of engines, flowed through by oil, have to be monitored continuously. Oil level gauges have to be easily accessible, quick to clean and must be extremely impact resistant avoiding malfunction or defect for the system. Functional Principle / Short Description / Assembly The patented two-chamber system of EPHY-MESS oil level gauges enables a quick control of the oil level and withstands “projectiles” up to a mass of 30g and speed of 50m/s. In case of damage of the sight glass due to a stronger collision, the gear oil won’t leak out thanks to the two-chamber system with its integrated protective grid. The destroyed window can be replaced quickly during a routine test without opening the oil container and emptying the oil. Aside of the two-chamber system, EPHY-MESS offers oil level gauges with one window as well.
