Liquiphant T FTL20

Product catalog summary
Overview: The Liquiphant T FTL20 is a level limit switch designed for fluid applications in tanks, containers, and pipelines. It is ideal for cleaning, filtering systems, and coolant and lubricant tanks, serving as overspill protection or pump protector. It is not suitable for hazardous areas or where medium temperatures exceed 150°C. For hygienic areas, the FTL20H is recommended.
Key Benefits:
  • Reliable and universally applicable due to the tuning fork measuring principle.
  • External test option with a test magnet and on-site control via an LED display.
  • Compact design allows easy installation in hard-to-reach areas.
  • Durable stainless steel housing and service-friendly plug-in connections.
Function and System Design:
  • The FTL20 uses a tuning fork brought to resonance frequency by a piezoelectric drive. The frequency changes when the fork is covered by liquid, which is monitored by the electronics to indicate the liquid level.
  • The system includes the Liquiphant T FTL20 limit switch and can be integrated with PLCs, miniature contactors, solenoid valves, or AS-i bus systems.
Input and Output:
  • Measured variable: Density, with a range of >0.7 g/cm³.
  • Switching outputs are available in MAX (overfill protection) and MIN (dry running protection) safety modes.
Power Supply and Electrical Connection:
  • Supports DC-PNP and AC connections with various cable entry options.
  • Power consumption is less than 825 mW, with a current consumption of less than 15 mA for DC-PNP.
Performance Characteristics:
  • Switching delay is 0.5 seconds when covering and 1.0 seconds when becoming free.
  • Maximum measured error is 13.0 ±1 mm, with a repeatability of ±0.5 mm.
Operating Conditions:
  • Can be installed in any position; foam does not affect its function.
  • Ambient temperature range is -40 to +85°C, with a degree of protection up to IP67.
Mechanical Construction:
  • Available in variants for 100°C and 150°C with specific design dimensions.
  • Process connections are adaptable to various installation requirements.
Certificates and Approvals:
  • CE mark and declaration of conformity included.
  • Sanitary compatibility and overfill protection certifications available.
Specifications: The document outlines the specifications for the Liquiphant T FTL20 sensor by Endress+Hauser, including process connections, dimensions, pressure, and temperature limits. The sensor is available with various thread types such as ISO228 and ANSI NPT, and can withstand pressures up to 40 bar and temperatures up to 150°C.
Procedures: Instructions for performing function tests using a test magnet are provided, describing light signals for different operational states and errors, including power supply issues and sensor errors.
Standards and Approvals: The sensor complies with CE mark requirements and other standards such as EHEDG for sanitary compatibility and WHG for overfill protection. It also has marine approval from German Lloyd.
Recommendations: For installation, specific accessories like welding necks and socket wrenches are recommended. Advice is given on addressing errors related to power supply and sensor functionality.
Accessories: Optional accessories include welding necks and socket wrenches, with specific order numbers provided. FDA-approved materials for certain components are listed.
Ordering Information: Detailed ordering codes for different configurations of the Liquiphant T FTL20 are provided, including process connection types, switch outputs, and application-specific options.
Additional Information: Contact details for Endress+Hauser Instruments International are provided for further inquiries.

Level Pressure Flow Temperature Liquid Registration Systems Services Solutions Analysis Components Technical Information Level limit switch for liquids The Liquiphant T FTL20 is a level limit switch for all kinds of fluids and is used in tanks, containers and pipelines. It is used in cleaning and filtering systems and coolant and lubricant tanks as an overspill protection or The FTL20 is ideal for applications which previously used float switches and conductive, capacitive and optical It also works in applications which are unsuitable for these measuring methods due to conductivity, build-ups, turbulence, flows or air bubbles. The FTL20 is not suitable for hazardous areas and areas where the medium temperature is above 150 °C. For hygienic areas the use of FTL20H is recommended. Your benefits ■ Operational safety, reliability and universal applicability through use of the tuning fork measuring ■ External test option using test magnet ■ On-site control using external LED display ■ Easy to install even at points difficult to access due to compact construction ■ Rugged stainless steel housing (316L) ■ Service-friendly plug-in connections People for Process Automation

Liquiphant T FTL20 Function and system design Measuring principle The tuning fork of the FTL20 is brought to its resonance frequency by means of a piezoelectric drive. If the tuning fork is covered by liquid, this frequency changes. The electronics of the FTL20 monitor the resonance frequency and indicate whether the tuning fork is freely vibrating or is covered by liquid. Measuring system The measuring system comprises: • Liquiphant T FTL20 limit switch • Progammable logic control (PLC), miniature contactor, solenoid valve or AS-i bus 1 AS-interface 2 PLC ...
