Product catalog summary
Overview: The Endevco model 12M9 Picochip is a high-performance piezoelectric accelerometer designed for surface mounting. It is intended for integration into hybrid electronics packages to create compact shock and vibration measurement systems.
Features: The accelerometer features Endevco's Piezite type P-8 bimorph sensing element, which operates in bender mode. This design offers low base strain sensitivity, low pyroelectric output, and high charge output relative to its size. It is lightweight (85 mg) and cost-effective for OEM applications, with a single connector and flexible cable.
Installation: The device is mounted using conductive adhesives or solder on the bottom surface, with a solder or wire bond connection to the top surface. Due to its high impedance, careful shielding from electromagnetic noise is necessary.
Specifications: The accelerometer's performance specifications conform to ISA-RP-37.2 (1964) standards. Key specifications include a charge sensitivity of 1.5 pC/g (range 1.2 to 1.8 pC/g), a resonance frequency range of 9.0 to 13.0 kHz, and a capacitance of 550 pF at 1000 Hz. The device has a resistance of ≥ 10 GΩ at 50 Vdc and ≥ 100 MΩ at +302˚F.
Calibration: Calibration data traceable to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is provided, including charge sensitivity and capacitance. Frequency response calibration may be limited by the mounting fixture.
Physical Characteristics: The accelerometer weighs 0.085 gm (0.0030 oz) and is made from Alloy 42 with a gold or nickel plate finish. It can be mounted using conductive adhesive or solder.
Additional Notes: Case isolation is available as model 65M1-XXX and must be specified at the time of order. A minimum of +22 Vdc is required for full-scale operation at temperature extremes. Endevco reserves the right to modify specifications without notice to ensure product reliability.

Meggitt Endevco® Model 12M9 SMT Mount Low-Cost Accelerometer-1

Model 12m9 Piezoelectic accelerometer Features Description • For SMT Installation • Light Weight (85 mg) • High Output Efficiency • Low Cost/OEM Applications • Single connector, flexible cable The Endevco model 12M9 Picochip is a high performance piezoelectric accelerometer packaged for surface mounting. The unit is engineered for integration into standard hybrid electronics packages allowing the user to create miniaturized shock and vibration measurement systems. The model 12M9 features Endevco's Piezite type P-8 bimorph sensing element, operating in the bender mode, which provides low base strain sensitivity, low pyroelectric output, and extremely high charge output versus size. Contact to the sensing element is made through the top and bottom metalized surfaces. The unit is designed to be mounted with conductive adhesives or solder on the bottom surface and a solder or wire bond connection to the top surface. Since the model 12M9 is a high impedance piezoelectric device, extreme care must be exercised in shielding it from stray electromagnetic noise.
