Product catalog summary
Product Overview: The Endevco® model 22 Picomin™ is the smallest piezoelectric accelerometer designed for vibration measurement on small objects like scaled models, circuit boards, and disk drives. It weighs 0.14 gm, minimizing mass loading effects, and operates without an external power source.
Design and Features: The accelerometer uses Endevco’s Piezite® type P-8 crystal element in radial shear mode for stable output sensitivity. It is ground isolated with a hard anodized surface and includes a low-noise coaxial cable for reliable operation. A removal tool is provided for field use.
Recommended Equipment: Endevco signal conditioner models 133, 2775B, or the OASIS 2000 system are suggested for use with this high impedance accelerometer.
Specifications:
  • Charge Sensitivity: Typical 0.40 pC/g, Minimum 0.30 pC/g
  • Frequency Response: 5 to 10,000 Hz (±5%), 3 to 12,000 Hz (±1 dB)
  • Resonance Frequency: 54 kHz
  • Temperature Range: -100°F to +300°F (-73°C to +149°C)
  • Shock Limit: 10,000 g pk
  • Weight: 0.14 gm (unit only), 0.4 gm with cable
Environmental and Physical Characteristics: The unit is epoxy sealed and non-hermetic, with an aluminum alloy case. It uses a PFA insulated coaxial cable and is mounted using adhesives like petro-wax or cyanoacrylate epoxy.
Calibration and Accessories: Calibration data traceable to NIST is provided. Accessories include a removal wrench, cable assemblies, and mounting wax. Optional signal conditioners and computer-controlled systems are available.
Notes and Recommendations:
  • Ensure cables are secured to prevent failure under high g conditions.
  • Use appropriate solvents for removing epoxy-mounted accelerometers to avoid damage.
  • Factory calibration services are recommended for maintaining precision and accuracy.

Endevco® Model 22 World's Smallest Piezoelectric Accelerometer-1

The Endevco® model 22 Picomin™ is the world’s smallest piezoelectric accelerometer, designed specifically for vibration measurement on small objects such as scaled models, circuit boards, and disk drives. Its light weight (0.14 gm) effectively eliminates mass loading effects. The transducer is designed to have reverse polarity with respect to acceleration going into the mounting base. The accelerometer is a self-generating device that requires no external power source for operation. The model 22 features Endevco’s Piezite® type P-8 crystal element, operating in radial shear mode, which exhibits excellent output sensitivity stability over time. Signal ground is isolated from the mounting surface of the unit by a hard anodized surface. Specially designed low-noise coaxial cable is supplied for error-free operation. A tool is included in the shipping case to ensure proper removal of the cable and transducer in the field. Endevco signal conditioner models 133, 2775B or OASIS 2000 computer-controlled system are recommended for use with this high impedance accelerometer.
