Product catalog summary
Overview
EtherCAN CI-ARM9/RMD is a gateway device designed to facilitate communication between CAN and Ethernet systems. It is particularly useful for applications requiring message processing within the gateway, such as CAN message visualization via a web server and complex protocol conversions.

Special Features
  • Version 3.0 of EtherCAN CI-ARM9/RMD.
  • Powered by a 454 MHz ARM9 CPU (Freescale I.MX287).
  • Equipped with 128MB SDRAM and 2GB eMMC Flash memory.
  • Supports 10/100MBit Ethernet and includes two CAN interfaces.
  • Features individual galvanic decoupling for both CAN transceivers.
  • Includes RS232 interface for configuration, USB Host interface, and SD-Card slot.
  • Runs on an embedded Linux operating system (Kernel 3.5.0).

Technical Specifications
  • Storage Temperature: -40 to +85 °C.
  • Operating Temperature: -20 to +60 °C.
  • Supply Voltage: -36 to +36 V.
  • Voltage on Bus Connections: 10 to +30 V.
  • Current Consumption: Typical 100 mA, Maximal 150 mA.
  • Nominal values are based on a supply voltage of 24V and an environmental temperature of 20°C.

Scope of Delivery
  • CAN Interface EtherCAN CI.
  • User Manual.
  • proCANtool CAN-Monitor compatible with Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7/8.

Important Considerations
Exceeding the specified limiting values may cause permanent damage to the EtherCAN CI and connected devices. Prolonged exposure to these conditions can affect device reliability and lifespan.

It is essentially suiteable for applications where processing of messages in the gateway is needed. This includes i.e. visualization of CAN messages by a Web server, complex protocol conversions and others. A Freescale ARM9 CPU (I.MX287) clocked with 454MHz gives enough power for these applications. The device has 128MB SDRAM and 2GB eMMC Flash memory. The CAN interface is realized by the two internal CAN controller of the CPU. Both channel are individual galvanic decoupled from CPU and power supply. A USB 2.0 full speed host interface enables the connection of external peripherals like USB memory sticks or USB WLAN adapters. The SDCard slot allows to handle huge amounts of data when i.e. logging CAN data. The module is intended to be rail mo
