Oscillatory Test System

Product catalog summary
Overview of Phenomena
Damped oscillatory waves are produced during the operation of high voltage (HV) and medium voltage (MV) power transmission stations. These waves are classified into 'Slow Waves' (up to 1MHz) and 'Fast Waves' (up to 30MHz), based on the insulation type used in switches. The document examines the effects of these waves on power supply communication networks and emphasizes the necessity for testing equipment to simulate these impacts.
Applicable Standards
The document cites several standards for testing and measurement techniques, including IEC 61000-4-18 for damped oscillatory wave immunity tests, IEC 60255-22-1 for electrical disturbance tests, and ANSI C37.90.1 for surge withstand capabilities.
Test System Overview
The test system is capable of generating slow oscillatory waves at 100kHz and 1MHz with amplitudes up to 3000V, and fast oscillatory waves at 3MHz, 10MHz, and 30MHz with amplitudes up to 4000V. It is designed for high automation, featuring automatic coupling path selection and electronic polarity change.
Generator Specifications
The document details several generator models, each with specific capabilities for generating damped oscillatory waves and magnetic fields. Key specifications include oscillation frequencies, voltage ranges, source impedance, and pulse rise times. Antennas are also described for magnetic field testing.
Accessories and Options
The system can be expanded with external three-phase couplers for enhanced testing capabilities. These couplers are compatible with various standards and can be controlled via software or manually.
Specifications and Equipment
The document outlines specifications for various testing equipment used in electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing, including line voltages (L to N=280V and L to L=415V or 480V) and line current (25A per phase). Equipment such as CDN2000-06-25 and CDN3000A-06-25 are mentioned for testing with oscillatory waves, surge, EFT/burst, and ring wave impulses. The use of MF1000 coil antennas for generating magnetic fields is also specified.
Testing Standards and Procedures
The document references several IEC standards applicable to EMC testing, including IEC 61000-4-8, IEC 61000-4-9, and IEC 61000-4-10. It describes the use of MIG damped oscillatory wave testers and the extension of slow wave generators to include fast wave impulses at frequencies of 3, 10, and 30MHz.
Software and Automation
Software options for remote control of testing equipment are discussed, including GENECS-MIG and TEMA Software, which facilitate control and test report generation. The document highlights the importance of system automation and the availability of accessories to enhance test systems.
Product Range and Applications
EMC PARTNER offers a wide range of impulse test equipment for various applications, including aircraft, military, and telecom. The document lists equipment for component tests and emission measurements, adhering to standards like IEC/EN 61000-3-2 and 61000-3-3.

Brief Overview of Phenomena Repetitive damped oscillatory waves are phenomena associated with the opening and closing of high voltage (HV) busbars in high voltage (HV) and medium voltage (MV) power transmission stations. The physical environment influences the fundamental oscillation frequency and repetition of the impulses. The most common type of switch used in power distribution is an air insulated type which has been measured as generating damped oscillatory impulses up to 1MHz with a repetition rate up to 400Hz. Damped oscillatory impulses up to 1MHz are termed “Slow Waves”. The modern trend...
