Overview
The ELPRO 505U is a radio telemetry module designed for remote monitoring of process signals. It supports digital, pulse, and analogue signals, transmitting these via radio for applications such as alarms, metering, and general plant monitoring. The module operates on unlicensed UHF radio channels, making it suitable for utility industries and cost-effective for short-range applications.

Mode of Operation
The 505U transmits input signal values upon change or after a pre-configured time. It includes error-checking and can repeat transmissions to ensure accuracy. Outputs can be identical signals or via a serial data link (RS232 or RS485).

Power Consumption
The 505U is energy-efficient, entering a "sleep" mode between transmissions. It can be powered by an external 12 VDC supply or internal AA batteries, with a service life of over four years. It features an internal alarm for low battery voltage.

Enclosure and Compatibility
The module is housed in a weatherproof IP65 aluminium enclosure. It is compatible with the 105U range, which can extend radio range and connect to intelligent hosts like PCs or PLCs.

Inputs and Signals
The 505U accepts digital, pulse, and analogue inputs. Digital inputs can be voltage-free contacts or 0-5 VDC signals, with configurable update times. Pulse inputs support up to 100 Hz, suitable for metering, with totalised pulse counts transmitted to prevent data loss. Analogue inputs (0-20 mA) can be loop powered, with configurable sensitivity and update times.

Configuration and Diagnostics
Configuration is done via a PC connected to the RS232 port, with software provided for diagnostics.
