Functioning and Application: The VMM valve serves as a safety device with a fast-opening solenoid valve and an optional slow-opening valve for gas flow adjustment, typically used in industrial gas trains.
Special Versions and Options: Options include a closed position indicator, increased protection class, Ex-proof marking, and versions for aggressive gases.
Technical Specifications: The valves have various connection sizes, voltage ratings, and operate within -15°C to +60°C, with a maximum pressure of 360 mbar.
Gas Flow Chart: Includes pressure drops and flow rates, with conversion formulas for different gases.
Ordering Information: Provides codes for specifying valve type, connection size, pressure, voltage, and by-pass options.
Standards and Approvals: Complies with European safety standards and directives on electromagnetic compatibility and low voltage, certified by GASTEC CERTIFICATION B.V.
Installation, Adjustment, and Servicing: Emphasizes proper installation and periodic servicing, including piping and electrical connections, compliance with specifications, and leak tests.
Fast Stroke Adjustment (Vstart): Instructions for adjusting the initial fast stroke using a hexagonal wrench.
Flow Rate Adjustment (Vmax): Details on adjusting flow rate for fast and slow valves using appropriate tools.
Opening Time Adjustment (T): Instructions for adjusting opening time, with factory setting at 12-14 seconds.
Coil Replacement: Steps for replacing a faulty coil, ensuring correct reassembly.
Maintenance Recommendations: Annual external inspections, valve replacement after 10 years, and checks for leaks.

ELEKTROGAS – Technical Sheet EE163 - 11/11 The VMM type valve is a safety shutting device using auxiliary power supply. The first valve (A) is a fast opening safety solenoid valve. When it is de-energized, the spring pushes on the seal disc, keeping the gas passage closed. Now, the inlet chamber is under the gas line pressure, and it forces on the disc too, improving the seal. When the coil is powered the valve opens rapidly, against the strength of the spring and gas pressure. If the power supply is shut off, the valve rapidly closes, interrupting the gas flow. Equally, the second valve (B)...

ELEKTROGAS – Technical Sheet EE163 - 11/11 When the flow read on the diagram is referred to operating pressure instead of standard conditions, the pressure drop ∆p read on the diagram must be multiplied for the factor: (1+ relative pressure in bar) Example: 3 In the 2” solenoid valve with an air flow of 60 Nm /h there is a pressure drop ∆p = 6 mbar. 3 If we consider that 60 m /h is the flow at 200 mbar of inlet pressure, then the pressure drop to be consider is: ∆p = 6x(1+0,2) = 7,2 mbar Normally, pressure drop and flow rate for the valves are read from the gas flow diagram. However, the valves...
