VML Safety solenoid valves for gas - slow opening

Product catalog summary
Description: The VML type valve is a slow opening, single-stage solenoid valve, normally closed and opens when energized. It is used for air or gas blocking and releasing controls in various gas-consuming appliances.
Features: Made from aluminum alloy die-cast, the valves have a range of inlet/outlet connections from DN10 to DN80. They comply with EN161 requirements and are suitable for air and non-aggressive gases. Special versions are available for aggressive gases. The valves are designed for cycle operation and continuous service, equipped with flow rate adjustments, and include a fine mesh filter to prevent contamination.
Functioning and Application: The valve operates as a safety device using auxiliary power. It remains closed when de-energized and opens slowly when powered. It is typically installed in gas trains for industrial applications.
Technical Specifications: The valves have various connection types, voltage ratings, and power consumption levels. They operate within a temperature range of -15°C to +60°C and have a maximum operating pressure of up to 500 mbar. The protection class is IP54, with an optional upgrade to IP65.
Gas Flow Chart: The document provides a formula for converting air flow to other gases and explains how to calculate pressure drops and flow rates using the Kvs value.
Ordering Information: The valves are available in different models and configurations, with options for special versions and additional features like extra gauges and micro-switches.
Design, Installation, and Servicing: Recommendations include ensuring system compatibility, proper mounting, and regular maintenance. The valve should be replaced after 10 years of service.
Standards and Approvals: The valves comply with various European directives and standards, including ATEX, EMC, and RoHS II. They are certified for functional safety up to SIL3 and have a quality management system certified to UNI EN ISO 9001.

ELEKTROGAS – Technical Sheet EE162 - 05/12 The VML type valve is a slow opening single-stage solenoid valve, normally closed (open when energized). This type of device is suitable for air or gas blocking and releasing controls, required in gas power burners, atmospheric gas boilers, industrial kilns and others gas consuming appliances. The valves are made of aluminum alloy die-cast, with a wide range for inlet/outlet connections from DN10 up to DN80. Pipe connections meet group 2 and backpressure sealing is compliant with class A, according to EN161 requirements. Suitable for use with air and...

VML Safety solenoid valves for gas - slow opening-3

ELEKTROGAS – Technical Sheet EE162 - 05/12 The VML type valve is a safety shutting device using auxiliary power supply. When it is de-energized, the spring pushes on the seal disc, keeping the gas passage closed. Now, the inlet chamber is under the gas line pressure, and it forces on the disc too, improving the seal. When the coil is powered the valve opens slowly because of the hydraulic brake, against the strength of the spring and gas pressure. The rapid stroke may be adjusted using the regulating screw on the top (see the installation and service instructions), to adjust the initial gas flow....

ELEKTROGAS – Technical Sheet EE162 - 05/12 When the flow read on the diagram is referred to operating pressure instead of standard conditions, the pressure drop ∆p read on the diagram must be multiplied for the factor: (1+ relative pressure in bar) Example: 3 In the 2” solenoid valve with an air flow of 80 Nm /h there is a pressure drop ∆p = 5 mbar. 3 If we consider that 80 m /h is the flow at 200 mbar of inlet pressure, then the pressure drop to be consider is: ∆p = 5x(1+0,2) = 6 mbar Normally, pressure drop and flow rate for the valves are read from the gas flow diagram. However, the valves...
