Product catalog summary
Overview: The document provides technical specifications and operational guidelines for the DELTA Type VD oil burner fuel unit, which is designed for high-pressure oil burners and transfer pump applications. It highlights the unit's features, applications, operation, identification, technical specifications, installation, and maintenance procedures.
1. Features: The DELTA fuel unit is characterized by high suction capability, suitability for one or two pipe systems, self-priming, reliable pressure and positive cut-off, silent operation, low power absorption, and easy installation and adjustment. It includes pressure and vacuum gauge ports.
2. Applications: The unit is intended for pumping oil in high-pressure oil burners. It is not suitable for pumping water or acid.
3. Operation: The VD fuel unit integrates a pump, filter, and pressure regulator/cut-off valve. It uses spur gears for pumping action and is available in both one and two pipe versions. The unit self-primes by purging air from the suction chamber. Pressure regulation is achieved through a spring and piston mechanism.
4. Pump Identification: The pump type is identified by nozzle capacity, rotation direction, nozzle line position, pipe system type, pressure ranges, and special versions. Factory settings and optional features are also specified.
5. Technical Specifications: Key specifications include oil viscosity range, maximum oil temperature, power consumption, nozzle capacity, suction line vacuum and pressure, rotation speed, and standard strainer dimensions. The unit's weight and connection types are also detailed.
6. Diagrams: Graphs illustrate nozzle capacity and power consumption across different models and conditions.
7. Overall Dimensions: Detailed measurements of the unit's dimensions are provided.
8. By-pass Installation: Instructions for converting between single and two pipe versions are provided, emphasizing the importance of proper installation to avoid damage.
9. Installation and Maintenance: Guidelines include avoiding the use of additives, ensuring proper installation to prevent wear, minimizing air pockets in pipes, and regular filter cleaning. Specific torque limits for connections are provided.
10. Nozzle Pressure Test: Steps to ensure oil is delivered at the desired pressure are outlined, including connecting a pressure gauge and adjusting the nozzle pressure.
11. Nozzle Cut-Off Test (Two Pipe): Procedures to verify positive nozzle cut-off after burner shutdown are detailed, including pressure gauge connection and pressure stabilization checks.
12. Vacuum Test: Instructions for verifying the fuel unit's suction ability and system integrity are provided, including vacuum gauge connection and leak detection.

Installation and Service Instructions 9- Installation and Maintenance 11- Nozzle Cut-Off Test (two pipe) 1. Make sure that the by-pass plug is not used in a single pipe installation, because the fuel unit will not function properly and damage to the pump and burner motor could result. 2. Do not use fuel with additives to avoid the possible formation over time of compounds which may deposit between the gear teeth, thus obstructing them. 3. After filling the tank, wait before starting the burner. This will give any suspended impurities time to deposit on the bottom of the tank, thus avoiding the...
