FG Gas filter

FG Gas filter

FG Gas filter

Product catalog summary
Description
The FG type gas filter is designed for gas pipelines, adhering to DIN 3386 standards. It has a high capacity for holding dust and impurities, protecting downstream devices.

Features
Constructed from aluminum alloy die-cast, the filters accommodate connections from DN15 to DN150. They are suitable for natural gas, town gas, LPG, biologically produced methane, and air. Special seals for aggressive gases are available upon request. The filtering cartridge is made of polyolefine fibers, meeting Fire Class F1 standards, and is self-extinguishing. FGS models are more compact with a reduced filtering surface. Optional pressure gauges are available for monitoring.

Functioning and Application
These filters are installed in gas and compressed air lines to protect downstream fittings. The cartridge retains dust and impurities ≥50µm. When capacity is exceeded, the filter must be replaced. FGS models have washable mesh cartridges.

Accessories and Optionals
Pressure gauges can be added to monitor pressure differences. Test point fittings are available upon request.

Technical Specifications
Connections range from Rp1/2 to DN150, with a maximum operating pressure of 6 bar. The ambient temperature range is -15°C to +80°C. The filtration class is G4, and materials include aluminum alloy, plated steel, polypropylene fibers, and optional fluoroelastomer.

Gas Flow Chart (Pressure Drop)
The document provides a formula for converting air flow to other gases and explains how to calculate pressure drops and select appropriate filters based on flow rates and pressure conditions.

Ordering Information
Filters are available in various models with threaded or flanged connections. Additional options include pressure gauges and special seals.

Standards and Approvals
The filters comply with the Pressure Equipment Directive (97/23/EC) and are certified by C.S.I. Spa. The quality management system is certified according to UNI EN ISO 9001 by Kiwa Gastec Italia Spa.

ELEKTROGAS – Technical Sheet EE151 – 07/12 The FG type filter is designed for installation in gas lines and compressed air lines, to protect downstream fittings. The filtering cartridge made of nonwoven polypropylene fibers with a metal support frame, is suitable to retain dust and other impurities with size ≥50µm. When the dust storage capacity is exceeded or if there is an excessive pressure difference, the filter loses its protective function. In this case the filter element must be replaced. FGS1-FGS2 models are provided with a mesh filter cartridge, which is easy washable. Figure 2 shows...

ELEKTROGAS – Technical Sheet EE151 – 07/12 When the flow read on the diagram is referred to operating pressure instead of standard conditions, the pressure drop ∆p read on the diagram must be multiplied for the factor (1+ relative pressure in bar): Example: 3 In the 2” filter with an air flow of 100 Nm /h there is a pressure drop ∆p = 4 mbar. 3 If we consider that 100 m /h is the flow at 2 bar of inlet pressure, then the pressure drop to be consider is: ∆p = 4 x (1 + 2) = 12 mbar Filter must be selected considering the following: - Pressure drops ∆p ≤ 10 mbar Flow velocities w ≤ 20 m/s Normally,...
