ELETTROMECCANICA COLOMBO manufactures power transformers for both general and specific purposes. General-purpose transformers are typically high voltage to medium voltage (HV/MV) or medium voltage to medium voltage (MV/MV) with on-load tap changers (OLTC). Specific transformers often use converters for various machines. Transformers are designed according to Ecodesign regulations to maximize efficiency and meet the Minimum Peak Efficiency Index (PEI). The company has extensive experience, ensuring reliable products with a lifespan of over 30 years under normal conditions. Quality management is certified under ISO 9001-2015, ISO 14001-2015, and ISO 45001-2018.
The production range includes transformers with power from 5 MVA to 45 MVA ONAN (63 MVA ONAF), medium voltage (MV) tensions of 11/15/20/30/52/70 KV, and high voltage (HV) tensions of 90, 110, 123, 132, 150 KV, operating at frequencies of 50-60 Hz. Standards followed include IEC 60076-13 and IEEE 57.12.01.
All transformers undergo individual testing. Routine tests include voltage ratio measurement, induced over-voltage withstand, winding resistance measurement, and partial discharge measurement. Type tests include temperature rise and lightning impulse tests. Special tests, such as short circuit withstand, are conducted at CESI laboratories in Milan.
These transformers comply with IEC 60076 standards. They feature high permeability steel cores and E-CU 99.9% electrolytic copper windings. Cooling is achieved through tank-mounted radiators, with options for fans or pumps to increase power. Transformers can operate above nominal ratings as per IEC 354. Accessories include overpressure valves and temperature indicators.
No load tap changers adjust the transformation ratio on the MV side when the transformer is inactive. On load tap changers (OLTC) provide continuous regulation while the transformer is in service, activated by a motor drive and controlled by an electronic voltage regulator.
