Product catalog summary
Introduction: The EM-217B is a frequency inverter designed for speed control of small single-phase induction motors. It eliminates the need for an auxiliary capacitor by generating two output voltages with a 90-degree phase difference. The device supports a frequency output range from 15Hz to 80Hz and uses PAM principles to minimize EMC emissions. Control options include voltage, mA signal, or potentiometer, with galvanically isolated inputs for safety. It features start and stop ramps for smooth operation, with an option to disable the stop ramp for quicker stops. A self-recovery mains fuse provides protection against voltage spikes.
Technical Specifications:
  • Supply Voltage: 200-240Vac, 50/60Hz
  • Current Consumption: Max. 200mA
  • Recommended Motor Power: Up to 15W

Features:
  • Speed Control
  • Direction Change
  • Start Ramp
  • Slip Compensation
  • Isolated Control
  • V/mA Control Signal
  • Available as Open Card or Housed (EM-217B-H)
  • Low Disturbances
Installation: Ensure the supply voltage is switched off during installation. Only qualified personnel should perform installations. Adjust settings for input range and stop ramp as needed. Use insulated tools for slip compensation adjustments.
Operation: After turning on the supply, gradually increase the speed set voltage. The motor should operate smoothly from low to high speed. Direction changes should be tested at high speed, with adjustments made to the stop ramp for faster changes if necessary. Compensation adjustments involve setting trims to optimize motor speed under varying loads.
Safety Notice: The device operates at a lethal voltage of 230VAC. Proper precautions and tools must be used during installation and adjustments.
Example Calculation: For a 4-pole motor with a nominal speed of 1500rpm at 50Hz and a slip of 300rpm, the maximum speed is calculated as 2100rpm and the minimum as 150rpm.

EM-217BAC motor controller-1

EM-217B (-H ) INVERTER FOR 230VAC 1-ph INDUCTION MOTORS ■speed control -direction change ■start ramp -slip compensation -isolated control EM-217B is a frequency inverter for speed control of small 1 ph induction motors. This device creates two output voltages with 90 deg. phase difference to each other, so theres no need for auxiliary capasitor like often with 1 ph motors. The frequency output range is from 15Hz up to 80Hz. The output stage works with PAM princible and that way the EMC emissions are very low. The control can be done with voltage or mA signal or with potentiometer. The rotation direction can be changed with digital command. All cotntrol inputs are galvanically isolated from mains supply. Device has also a start and stop ramp for smooth operation. If needed, the stop ramp can be disabled for quicker stop. The EM-217B has self recovery mains fuse that offers a good immunity against the mains voltage spikes TECHNICAL DATA Dir. input level 4-30V =0N / <1 V =OFF Direction change delay 0.2s EMC tested for household / light industry

EM-217BAC motor controller-2

-Supply must be switched off when connecting input range: V / mA / Potentimeter -Turn compensation trims to recommended position (If motor is unknown, set both trims to min. position) - Installation of this device is allowed only for person who has competence for mains voltage voltage installation like a licensed electrician. - The slip compensation adjustments are on mains voltage side. So use allways Insulated tools. Turn supply on and start to Increase speed set voltage. Motor should start to run smoothly from low speed to high speed. Try to change direction when motor is running at high speed....
