Reliable Products Trustworthy People Speed Switches / Speed Sensors A speed switch senses rotating shaft speed through a speed sensor and shaft-mounted pulser disc/ wrap. It is then compared to one or more settable over/under/zero speed alarm trip-points. As the shaft rotates, the passing magnets are detected across an air-gap, targets are converted into pulses with a frequency proportional to the shaft RPM.
