The Elcometer 224 is a digital surface profile gauge designed for measuring surface profiles on flat or curved surfaces. It complies with international standards such as ASTM D 4417-B, SANS 5772, SSPC PA 17, and US Navy specifications NSI 009-32 and PPI 63101-000. The device features both integrated and separate probe options, USB and Bluetooth® data output, and is compatible with ElcoMaster® software.

Probes and Accessories

Probes are available for flat and convex surfaces, with options for standard or armored (metal-sheathed) cables. Each probe comes with a glass zero plate, calibration test foils (125μm and 500μm), and a calibration certificate. Probes have a one-year warranty.

Measurement Procedure

1. Ensure the probe is perpendicular to the surface and calibrate on the glass zero plate.
2. For spot measurements, take 5 or 10 readings within a 100 mm (4") diameter area.
3. The displayed value is either the average profile height or the maximum of the readings, depending on the selected mode.
4. For average surface profile over an area, record 5 spot measurements per 1 m x 1 m section.
