IO-Link is a point-to-point protocol, compatible with most industrial fieldbuses, which makes it easily integrable into existing systems. The IO-Link network consists of an IO-Link Master, IO-Link device and cable (unshielded, up to 20 metres long), with a standardized connector (M12 for the transducer PNS ILK). Both communication and power are passed through the cable, therefore wiring is very simple. The IO-Link Master and IO-Link devices can be easily configured by means of the Port Configuration Tool: the software identifies the devices connected to the Master and automatically downloads the description files (IODDs) from the online database www.ioddfinder.com IO-Link features the automated configuration; a function of the IO-Link master that stores all parameters of connected devices: in case of transducer replacement, the master reconfigures the device automatically, making maintainance operations easier. The transducers are easily fastened by means of the provided brackets, which can be placed freely along the body. The series PN2S avails on two ball joints at the ends. For the series PNS, ball joints and self-aligning articulated joints can be used for air-fixing, allowing to compensate mounting misalignments.
