Type FAE/M Description The Electromagnetic safety brake type FAE/M is basically made up of the inductor core, with the coil and springs incorporated and the induced assembly made up of the armature and the friction material that press the element to brake. Brakes are fail-safe. Power on to release. When the coil is energized, the magnetic flux attracts the armature disc to the coil body, causing the release of the element to be braked. When the coil is de-energized, the compressive springs push the armature disc axially against the friction disc with friction lining. Make sure that the two friction surfaces are free of grease or oil, since their presence reduces the braking torque.
