The detectors can be used at distances ranging from a few centimeters to several meters, with fiber-optic cables recommended for closer proximity to heat sources.
Series Overview
  • ODM Series: Detects energy in the near-infrared range (1-3 μm) with stainless steel casing and IP 68 protection. Suitable for environments exceeding 70°C with optional fiber-optic cables.
  • OD 100 Series: Features sensors with adjustable switching points and analog outputs. Designed for temperatures up to 300°C with on-site adjustment capabilities.
  • ODE Series: Measures energy in the near-infrared region with multiple outputs and fiber-optic operation up to 350°C.
Adjustment and Calibration
Instructions are provided for adjusting switching detectors and analog temperature detection. Proper mounting and calibration are crucial for accurate temperature measurement, considering factors like emission coefficient and illumination.
Diagrams and Data Interpretation
The document includes diagrams illustrating the relationship between differential temperature, angular field, and illumination. These diagrams help in understanding how to set threshold temperatures and interpret sensor readings accurately.
Technical Data
Detailed technical specifications are provided for various models, including operating voltage, switching current, protection class, and housing material. The document also outlines the modular system design and available accessories.
Conclusion
These infrared detectors are robust solutions for temperature measurement in challenging industrial environments. Proper installation and calibration are essential for optimal performance, and the document provides comprehensive guidelines to achieve this.

Infrared Detectors Function and application Where conventional sensors would fail due to too high temperature, infrared detectors working on a non-contact principle can be used. They respond to the radiated heat of the hot materials. Compact units with optics are used for distances of 2 to 8 m from the object. For distances of only a few cm, heat-resistant light-conducting cables should be used for transmission. Infrared Detectors Typical diagrams for infrared detectors If the hot surface is smaller than the field of view of the infrared detector, not so much energy enters into the opening of the infrared detector as would be possible under full illumination. Therefore the temperature will be falsely determined. This can be corrected when it is known what percentage of the field of view is covered by the hot surface. If the illumination is not 100%, the threshold temperature of the infrared detector must be lowered in order to detect the hot surface. (Diagram 2) object surface area detector visible surface...
