The rack and pinion hydraulic cylinders typically feature 1 or 2 pistons, with the rack rod causing the pinion to rotate. When two hydraulic cylinders are used, they operate oppositely, doubling the rotation torque. These cylinders are custom-designed to meet specific application requirements, with rotation angles usually up to 180° or 280°.
Douce Hydro's Rotary Vane Actuators are ideal for applications requiring compactness, strength, efficiency, and low weight. They operate up to 3000 PSI / 200 bar. Single vane actuators offer rotation from 0 to 280°, while double vane actuators provide twice the torque with rotation from 0 to 100°.
A central shaft with an integral vane is enclosed in a cylindrical chamber, with pressure directed to one side of the vane to rotate the shaft. Double vane actuators offer less rotation but double the output torque, ranging from 5 In./Lbs to over 7000,000 In./Lbs (0.6 Nm to over 75,000 Nm).
Actuators can be customized for specific needs, using materials like aluminum or titanium for weight-sensitive designs, and stainless steel for corrosive environments. Additional features like external stops, potentiometers, or proximity sensors can be included.
