Product catalog summary
Overview of Axicons: Axicons are optical components characterized by at least one conical surface. They can have various configurations such as plano-convex, plano-concave, and double convex, with either a flat or spherical surface on the opposite side. These components are typically made from optically transparent materials and are used to manipulate laser beams, either transforming them into infinite focus beams or focusing them into a ring.
Specifications:
  • Plano-Convex Axicons: Made from fused silica or BK7, they operate within a wavelength range of 400 – 1600 nm. Base angles available are 0.5°, 1.0°, 5°, 10°, and 25°, with diameters of 10.0 mm, 25.4 mm, and 50.8 mm. They have a diameter tolerance of +0.0 / -0.1 mm, conic irregularities of less than 2.0 µm P-V, and flatness of λ / 4 on the plano side. AR coatings are available for 600 – 900 nm and 750 – 1100 nm.
  • Plano-Concave Axicons: Also made from fused silica or BK7, these axicons have negative base angles of -0.5°, -1.0°, -5°, -10°, and -25°. They share the same diameter options and tolerances as the plano-convex type, but with conic irregularities of less than 4.0 µm P-V.
  • Double-Convex Axicons: Constructed from BK7, they offer base angles of 0.5°, 1.0°, 5°, 10°, and 25°, with focal lengths ranging from 25 to 2000 mm. They maintain the same diameter options and tolerances, with conic irregularities of less than 2.0 µm P-V and radius tolerance of +/- 3%.
Applications: Axicons are primarily used in laser material processing, where they transform laser beams for specific applications. The coatings and customizations available allow for tailored solutions to meet specific operational needs.

AXICON - DOUBLE CONVEX-1

axicons Axicons are optical components with at least one conical surface. It is possible to have different combinations of concave or convex conical surfaces on one side with plano or spherical surfaces on the other side, i.e., plano-convex, plano-concave, double convex, etc. Optical axicons are optical components with a conical surface on one side and plan or spherical surface on the other side. They are made of optically transparent or filter materials with polished opposite sides, ground edges and chamfers. An axicon made up of conical and flat surface produces a line image along the axis from a point light source. On the other hand, an axicon made up of conical and spherical surfaces focus parallel beam into a ring on a given distance. The conical surface can be concave or convex depending of the axicon angle. Different coatings can be applied on the polished sides of axicons. The convex conical surface can be used as a mirror axicon. Axicons are used to transform laser beams into infinite focus beams or to focus collimated beam into a ring. They later can be used for laser material processing.
