Refuse-derived fuels (RDF) are created from waste materials and serve as alternatives to primary fuels in industrial thermal processes or energy generation. RDFs are classified based on the processing required:
- Category 1: Waste types suitable for co-incineration with minimal treatment.
- Category 2: High-calorific waste streams from commercial waste pre-treatment plants, necessitating more extensive processing.
- Shredding: Initial shredding of untreated waste using hydraulic grab arms or wheel loaders.
- Metal Separation: Removal of ferromagnetic parts using an overband magnet.
- Screening: Fine particles are screened out to improve material quality.
- Wind Sifting: Separation of light and heavy fractions using air currents.
- Mid-Speed Shredding: Final grinding to achieve the desired output size.
- SRF Main Burners: Particle size less than 30 mm, with high specific properties.
- RDF Calciner: Particle size less than 100 mm, with low specific properties.
- Power Plants: Particle size less than 300 mm, with low quality.
