GRAFILIT SP Gasket Sheet

Product catalog summary
Overview: GRAFILIT® SP is a gasket material made from expanded graphite with a tanged stainless steel insert, enhancing surface load and blowout safety. It is known for its excellent chemical, thermal, and mechanical resistance, making it suitable for various industries including gas and steam supply, chemical, and petrochemical industries.
Properties: GRAFILIT® SP exhibits superior sealability, excellent thermal and mechanical resistance, and very good chemical resistance. It is a general-purpose material applicable in water supply, steam supply, gas supply, chemical and petrochemical industries, automotive, shipbuilding, power plants, and more.
Technical Data: For a thickness of 1.5 mm, the material has a density of 1.5 g/cm³, compressibility of 35%, and recovery of 17%. It can withstand stress resistance of 49 MPa at 300°C for 16 hours. The specific leak rate is 0.05 mg/(s·m), and it has low leachable chloride and fluoride content.
Operating Conditions: The material can operate at temperatures ranging from -200°C to 700°C, depending on the atmosphere. It can handle pressures up to 160 bar for liquids and 130 bar for steam and gases.
Composition and Approvals: Composed of expanded natural graphite with a tanged stainless steel sheet insert, it is approved by various standards including DIN-DVGW and API 607.
Chemical Resistance: The material is recommended for use with a wide range of chemicals, including acetic acid, acetone, ammonia, benzene, and many more. However, it is not recommended for use with certain acids like sulfuric acid at high concentrations.
Dimensions: Standard sheet sizes are 1000 x 1000 mm and 1500 x 1500 mm, with thicknesses ranging from 0.5 mm to 3.0 mm. Other sizes and thicknesses are available upon request.
P-T Diagrams: These diagrams provide guidance on the maximum permissible combination of internal pressure and service temperature for the gasket material, indicating that thinner gaskets generally exhibit better P-T properties.
