Cyclone Water Separator AG-Z & LS Series

Cyclone Water Separator AG-Z & LS Series

Cyclone Water Separator AG-Z & LS Series

Product catalog summary
Overview
Donaldson Cyclone Water Separators are designed to remove liquid water and particulates from compressed air and gases. They are available in two styles: AG-Z (aluminum) and LS (carbon steel), each with specific housing designs and flow rate capacities.
Specifications
  • AG-Z Series: Features a three-piece aluminum housing, available in eight sizes with flow rates from 70 to 1400 scfm.
  • LS Series: Features a two-piece carbon steel housing, available in five sizes with flow rates from 2000 to 6000 scfm.
  • Both series include swirl vanes for efficient liquid removal with low pressure drop.
  • Standard housings have timer-operated drain valves, while Superplus housings have Ultramat UFM-T zero air-loss condensate drain valves.
Operation
The separators guide compressed air over swirl vanes, directing it into the housing. Liquid aerosols and particles are drained out, with the design preventing aerosol carryover.
Materials and Finish
  • AG-Z Housing: Aluminum
  • LS Housing: Carbon Steel
  • Surface Finish: Blue Polyester Resin
Performance and Limitations
  • Retention Rate: 99% for particles ≥10 μm
  • Maximum Inlet Air Temperature: 150°F (65°C)
  • Minimum Inlet Air Temperature: 34°F (1°C)
  • Maximum Operating Pressure: AG-Z 250 psig, LS 125 psig
  • LS is ASME Code Stamped
Capacity Correction Factors
The standard capacities are based on 100 psig inlet pressure and 100°F inlet temperature. Correction factors are provided for different pressures and temperatures to adjust the capacity of the separators.
Examples
  • For a Cyclone Separator Model AGZ0072 with standard capacity of 600 scfm, under 80 psig and 120°F, the adjusted capacity is 468 scfm.
  • For a given flow of 1200 scfm under 120 psig and 60°F, the adjusted capacity is 900 scfm, suggesting the use of Model AGZO144.
