TECHNICAL DATA DESCRIPTION 525 is a semi-conducting, self-amalgamating EPR (Ethylene Propylene Rubber) tape. Its colour is black. The product and interleave are printed with the cautionary words 'semi-conducting' to distinguish the product from insulating tapes. APPLICATIONS ■ For ensuring the continuity of conductor and core screens at cable joints in a variety of polymeric and elastomeric insulated cables. ■ For jointing power cables up to 69kV. ■ For stress cone construction, where it provides the conducting layer. ■ For smoothing electrical stresses on irregular shaped lugs and connectors. ■ For smoothing electrical stresses in joints and terminations using premoulded components. • For smoothing electrical stresses on overhead power lines, reducing discharges and consequent interference to local radio and telephone communications. PRODUCT BENEFITS Excellent physical and electrical properties with a high degree of stability. The tape has all the normal benefits associated with self-amalgamating tapes giving void-free, homogeneous wrapping without the application of heat or pressure. Excellent resistance to water and ozone. UV resistant The tape has been formulated to minimise corrosion potential. The product is approved to EDF FIN 26-S-04. Meets specification UTE C 33-011. Service temperature -40 to +100°C. Overload temperature 120°C. Supplied in an easy to handle and apply tape form. The product is interleaved with a disposable printed plastic liner.

Oils may affect the electrical propeities of the tape. The rolls should be stored flat on their cut edges in the original packaging. The product must be protected from dust heat, moisture, direct sunlight and solvent fumes. Storage temperature between +10°C and +30°C. Under these conditions, the storage life of the tape in a temperate climate will be at least five years.
