Standards Delivery form Glass banding tape is a product made with parallel glass threaded glass filaments, pre-impregnated with special thermosetting polyester resins in B-stage. Glass banding tape can be used for electrical insulation, it can be thermally self-bonded and its characteristics by an extremely high mechanical resistance, high tensile strength and a very low loss. It is used for banding electrical machines, coils and other electronic equipment, Advantages in comparison to steel bandages: - Eddy current free material and thus no local overheating. - No fatigue fractures - Resistance to corrosion in tropical environments - Reduction of process cost due to short processing time - Reduction of insulating material and weight Glass banding tape has to be stored in a cool place. It must be allowed to reach room temperature before removing it from the packaging. It should be processed with an appropriate winding device. Winding takes place a room temperature, or when heated up, via pre-heater rotor, optionally with infrared radiators. Due to warm winding , a residual voltage of approximately 60% of the applied tensile force is achieve in the bandage. After winding and selective fixation (infrared radiator or soldering gun) the resin has to be polymerised in the oven according to the hardness stated in the table.
