DISA SAM Mixer

DISA SAM Mixer

Product catalog summary
Overview: The DISA SAM Mixer is designed for producing high-strength, high-quality clay bonded sand, essential for achieving good castings with low reject rates. It features high-intensity mixing for uniform sand grain coating, reducing costs for bentonite and additives, and ensuring high output rates with minimal temperature increases.
Key Features:
  • Low maintenance costs with easy access to wear parts.
  • Consistent high-quality homogeneous moulding sand.
  • High throughput rate and short mixing cycles.
  • Environmentally responsible operation with no dust or loss of fines.
  • Rigid mixer structure allows direct installation on steel floors without vibration isolation.
  • Easy service access with mixer gear and drives on top.
  • Compactability and sand strength control during the mixing cycle.
Design and Function: The mixer features a strong, welded bowl with a convex top section supporting the drive unit. It includes a rotating arm and central shaft with a mixing turbine, wall scraper, pan plough, directional vane, and water sprays. The high-speed turbine circulates around the stationary bowl, ensuring even water distribution and steady sand flow.
Optional Features:
  • Ceramic lining for the mixing bowl, offering over 10 years of lifespan.
  • Bond injection for remote weighing and direct additive injection into the sand batch.
  • Extra discharge door to reduce cycle time.
Control Units:
  • Main control panel with Siemens S7 PLC for mixer functions and automatic bad batch rejection.
  • Local operator panel for mixer operation and fault indication.
  • HMI PC for control, data display, and logging.
Sand Control: The Sand Multi-Controller (SMC) measures compactability and sand strength, adjusting water and bentonite requirements accordingly. It includes options for measuring return sand temperature and moisture.
Technical Data: The document provides detailed specifications for various SAM mixer models, including dimensions, throughput, motor power, charge capacity, and weight.

Sand control Sand Multi-Controller, SMC The SMC measures compactability and sand strenght from a 50 mm test sand sample extracted from the mixer. Water is added to the mix based on the compactability measurements. As options, the SMC can include measurements of return sand temperature and moisture before the mixer. This is particularly relevant for low moisture contents, or for return moisture contents and sand temperatures with large variations. From the sand strength measurements, the bentonite requirements are calculated and can be adjusted in small increments in following batches towards...
