Product catalog summary
Description
The AP22653Q is a precision-adjustable, current-limited switch designed for automotive applications, supporting up to 1.5A continuous load current. It features an adjustable current-limit threshold between 125mA and 1735mA via an external resistor, ensuring a current limit accuracy of ±7% with controlled rise and fall times to minimize surges.
Features
  • AEC-Q100 Grade 1 qualified for -40°C to 125°C ambient temperature.
  • Supports up to 1.5A maximum load current.
  • Adjustable current limit with high accuracy.
  • Fast short-circuit response time of 5µs.
  • Reverse current blocking and limiting.
  • Overcurrent, overtemperature, and short-circuit protection.
  • ESD protection: 2kV HBM, 750V CDM, and 16kV IEC61000-4-2 with external capacitance.
  • Available in SOT26 package.
Applications
  • Automotive ECU supply rail power distribution and switching.
  • Precision current limiting in automotive systems.
Protection Features
  • Undervoltage Lockout (UVLO): Turns off the switch when input voltage falls below ~2.5V.
  • Overcurrent and Short-Circuit Protection: Uses an internal sensing FET to maintain constant output current during overcurrent conditions.
Current-Limit Threshold Programming
The current-limit threshold is programmable using an external resistor (15kΩ ≤ RLIM ≤ 210kΩ). The accuracy is affected by temperature and process variations, and the resistor should be placed close to the device to minimize parasitic effects.
Electrical Characteristics
Operating voltage range is 3.0V to 5.5V. The device features a maximum junction temperature of -40 to +150°C and provides thermal shutdown protection at +150°C with a hysteresis of +40°C.
Typical Performance
Figures in the document illustrate the device's performance characteristics, including turn-on/off times, short-circuit response, and thermal cycles.
Current Limit Programming
The document outlines the importance of programming the current limit below a maximum threshold to prevent upstream power supply issues. The current-limit threshold equations are provided for minimum, typical, and maximum values based on the resistance value (R).
Thermal Protection
The AP22653Q includes thermal protection to prevent damage when the die temperature exceeds safe limits, activating at approximately +150°C and deactivating after cooling by +40°C.
Reverse-Current and Reverse-Voltage Protection
The device prevents reverse current flow and reverse voltage conditions, with specific circuits (ROCP and ROVP) to manage these scenarios, including a 6ms deglitch time for fault assertion.
Special Functions
The discharge function is activated when the device is disabled or under UVLO, discharging the output capacitor through an internal NMOS.
FAULT Response
The FAULT output is triggered by various fault conditions with a typical response time of 7.5ms. It remains active until the fault is resolved.
Power Supply Considerations
Recommendations include using ceramic bypass capacitors to limit voltage drop and electrolytic capacitors to reduce power-supply transients.
Power Dissipation and Junction Temperature
Formulas are provided to calculate power dissipation and junction temperature based on ambient temperature and thermal resistance.
Hot-Plug Applications
The AP22653Q is suitable for hot-plug applications due to its controlled rise and fall times, ensuring a soft start-up for devices.
Ordering Information
Details on packaging, compliance, and part numbers are provided, including moisture sensitivity and packaging type.
Mechanical Data
Specifications for the SOT26 package dimensions and suggested pad layout are included.
Important Notice
Legal disclaimers and limitations of liability are outlined, emphasizing the responsibility of users to ensure compliance with applicable laws and standards.

AP22653Q-1

AP22653Q PRECISON-ADJUSTABLE CURRENT-LIMITED AUTOMOTIVE-COMPLIANT POWER SWITCH The automotive-compliant AP22653Q is a , single-channel, precisionadjustable, current-limited switch optimized for applications that require accurate current limiting, or to provide up to 1.5A of continuous load current during heavy loads/short circuits. This device offers an adjustable current-limit threshold between 125mA and 1735mA (typ) via an external resistor. Current limit accuracy of ±7% can be achieved at high current-limit settings. The rise and fall times are controlled to minimize current surges during turn on/off. The device has fast short-circuit response time for improved overall system robustness. The device provides a complete protection solution for applications subject to heavy capacitive loads and the prospect of short circuit, offering reverse current blocking and limiting; overcurrent, overtemperature, and short-circuit protection; and controlled rise-time and undervoltage lockout functionality. A 6ms deglitch capability on the open-drain flag output prevents false overcurrent reporting and does not require any external components. Applications Automotive ECU Supply Rail Power Distribution and Switching Automotive ECU Supply Rail Precision Current Limiting The device is available in the SOT26 (Type A1) package. The AP22653Q limits the output current to a safe level when the output current exceeds current-limit threshold and folds back the output current when subjected to short-circuit conditions.
