Introduction
Diamond's fiber optic laboratory, accredited since March 2002 by the Swiss Accreditation Service (SAS), operates as both a Calibration Laboratory for Fiber Optic Measurement Instruments (Accreditation no. Calibration Services
The laboratory offers calibration services for power meter instruments, including optical power and linearity calibration using a superposition system. For OTDR instruments, both SM and MM modules, distance and attenuation scale calibrations are provided. Standard wavelengths include SM 1310/1550 nm and MM 850/1310 nm, with other wavelengths available upon request. The service promises a short lead time of 2-3 days and provides an official calibration certificate with measurement data, uncertainties, and traceability to national standards.

Additional Services
Additional services include light source wavelength and spectrum measurement, light source stability measurement, and a safe, rapid instrument shipping service. Periodic instrument recalibration services are also available.

Measurement & Testing
The laboratory conducts measurements of optical and geometrical parameters of fiber optic components, such as insertion loss, variation of optical power, return loss, polarization dependent loss, and ferrule end face geometry. Mechanical tests include vibration, proof, twist, bending, and impact tests, while environmental tests cover temperature and humidity.

Other Services
The laboratory also functions as a training center, offers assistance in measurement techniques, and develops measurement instruments.
