Corporate History
DIAMETAL AG/SA was established in 1936 in Biel, Switzerland, focusing on carbide tools and diamond and CBN grinding tools. The company expanded with DIAMETAL FRANCE in 1973 and DIAMETAL ITALIA in 1995. They leverage their own grinding tools to produce carbide cutting tools, creating synergies appreciated by international clients. DIAMETAL is certified with ISO 9001:2000, ISO 14001:2004, and OHSAS 18001:1999.
Top & Bottom Grinding
This process, also known as face grinding with planetary kinematics, is economical for large series machining. It optimizes process efficiency and achieves excellent workpiece geometry in terms of height tolerance, parallelism, and planarity. The design of grinding wheels is crucial for achieving the required surface quality and removal rate.
Tailored Grinding Wheel Solutions
DIAMETAL offers flexible production options with resin and ceramic bonds, allowing for customization in diameter, concentration, and repairability. Specifications are tailored to process requirements, and products are delivered with a test protocol.
Specially Processed Abrasives
DIAMETAL manufactures precision grinding wheels with process-adapted Diamond and CBN grit types, including Diamond Cluster (DCL) for steel machining using hexagonal, ceramic-bonded CBN pellets. Special grit sizes are available upon request.
Process Analysis and Development
DIAMETAL uses the Peter Wolters AC700F for processing various products and conducting customer trials and feasibility studies. This setup allows for the optimization of existing applications and the development of new products. Materials processed include carbide, sapphire, magnetic materials, brass, ceramics, glass, steel, aluminum, and ferrite.
