Application
The Dewhurst 16 key UniPad is a vandal and weather-resistant keypad designed for systems requiring PIN entry, such as ATMs and self-checkout systems. It supports cryptographic modules for secure transactions and complies with disability access codes.

Body and Construction
The keypad features a high-pressure zinc alloy die-cast body with options for chromium plating or durable paint finishes. It is designed for through fascia mounting with a sealing gasket.

Keys
Keys measure 15mm x 20mm, with a markable area of 13mm x 18mm. They are inserted from the rear and resist front extraction. Options include stainless steel laser-marked keys with raised features.

Illumination and Heating
LED illumination is available for certain key variants. A heating kit is offered for cold conditions, including resistors, a thermostat, and a thermal fuse.

Functionality
The keys press through a silicone rubber seal onto metal snap domes on a PCB, providing reliable switching and tactile feedback. The PCB supports a cryptographic module and includes security features to detect tampering.

Security
Four security levels protect against tampering, including physical barriers, logical detection of penetration, and tamper-evident security tape. The cryptographic module manages key processes and security measures.

Dimensions and Mechanical Details
Overall dimensions are 96mm x 154mm x 11mm. The keypad weighs 0.5kg without a cryptographic module. It supports a maximum panel thickness of 3mm and has an IP66 and IP67 environmental protection rating.

Electrical Specifications
Switch contact material is gold, with a maximum rating of 50mA and 24V ± 10% d.c. The keypad includes a penetration circuit resistance of 85 Ohms and an intrusion circuit resistance of 30 Ohms.

Standards Compliance
The UniPad complies with BS EN 12540:2000, RoHS EU Directive 2002/95/EC, and ADAAG standards. EMC testing is required with the crypto module fitted.
