Product catalog summary
Engine Specifications:
The DEUTZ 912 series consists of air-cooled, naturally aspirated in-line engines with 3, 4, 5, or 6 cylinders. These engines feature a unit construction system with a single cylinder arrangement, maximizing parts commonality. They include advanced injection and combustion systems and offer an optional electronic governor. The engines are compact and lightweight, with minimal servicing points, and have been tested worldwide with over 2.7 million units in operation.
Technical Data:
The engines have a bore/stroke of 100/120 mm and displacements ranging from 2.827 to 5.616 liters. Power ratings for marine propulsion units vary from 24 kW (33 HP) to 78 kW (106 HP) depending on the engine type and RPM. Specific fuel consumption is consistent across models, with values at 1500 min-1 being 213 g/kWh. The engines meet IMO NOx limit values and fulfill classification regulations according to GL and NKK standards.
Design and Construction:
The engines are air-cooled with an integrated axial-flow blower. The crankcase is made of grey cast iron, and the cylinder heads are aluminum with optional seawater corrosion protection. The valve arrangement includes overhead valves with one inlet and one exhaust valve per cylinder. The pistons are three-ring designs, oil-cooled with spray nozzles. The crankshaft is made of nodular iron with integrated counterweights, and the lubrication system is a forced-feed circulation type.
Additional Features:
The engines come with a 12 V, 2.7 kW starter motor and a three-phase alternator. Optional features include connections for cabin heating, various manifold connections, compressors, hydraulic pumps, and different flywheel housings. The engines are designed for easy and cost-effective installation due to their minimal weight and space requirements.
Benefits:
The DEUTZ 912 engines offer low fuel and oil consumption, long maintenance intervals, and ease of service, reducing operating costs. They have low noise radiation, eliminating the need for costly noise attenuation measures, and provide excellent smooth-running characteristics with low engine vibrations. The engines also have low exhaust emissions, easily meeting current regulations.
