Rota-Sonde TS2006

Product catalog summary
Overview: The Rota-Sonde TS2006 is an infrared loop scanner designed for measuring the position of hot products such as steel, copper, and brass within its field of view. It provides an output proportional to the angular position of the product.
Key Features:
  • High sensitivity to infrared radiation with temperature detection as low as 250 °C (480 °F).
  • Operates within the infrared spectrum of 1 to 3 µm.
  • Digitally controlled with self-diagnostic functions and no optical adjustment required.
  • Encased in a heavy-duty housing (IP66) suitable for harsh environments.
  • Equipped with air purging and water cooling systems.
Applications:
  • Vertical and horizontal loop control.
  • Hot strip, plate, and slab centering.
  • Slab edges control for torch machines.
Principle of Operation: The device uses a rotating mirrored drum to scan the field of view. It detects infrared radiation from the leading edge of a hot product, converting this into a measuring pulse. The time between a reference pulse and the measuring pulse is used to determine the angular position of the product.
Mechanical Features:
  • Adjustable mounting stand and cooling plate with stainless steel pipe.
  • Hinged protective hood for easy cleaning.
  • Viewing port for easy adjustment.
Electronic Features:
  • Photocell optimized for low temperature detection.
  • Plug-in PC board for electronics.
  • Control panel with test push-button and sensitivity adjustment.
  • Automatic monitoring system for sensitivity, internal temperature, and motor speed.
Technical Characteristics:
  • Scanning angles available: 10°, 30°, 50°.
  • Response time: 2 ms or 4 ms depending on the model.
  • Temperature range: >400 °C for normal sensitivity, >250 °C for high sensitivity.
  • Analogue output options: 0 to 10 V or 4-20 mA.
  • Operating voltage: 220-240 V, 110-120 V, or 24 V DC.
  • Operating temperature: -20 °C to 60 °C without cooling, requires cooling above 60 °C.
Accessories: Includes a radiant bar for simulation and a junction box with pre-wired terminal block.

Rota-Sonde TS2006-2

Features The Rota-Sonde TS2006 measures the position of a hot product (steel, copper, brass, alloys, etc.) within its field of view and provides an output which is proportional to the angular position of the product within that field. The Rota-Sonde TS2006 is a scanning measuring sensor, sensitive to infrared radiation emitted by hot products with temperature as low as 250 °C (480 °F). Main features:  High sensitivity: 400 °C / 750 °F or 250 °C / 480 °F.  Infrared spectrum: 1 to 3 µm.  Digitally controlled with self diagnostic functions.  No optical adjustment.  Easy commissioning.  Optoelectronic...

Rota-Sonde TS2006-3

Principle of operation: Infrared scanning A rotating mirrored drum scans the field of view. When the analytical beam of the sensor detects infrared radiation from the leading edge of a hot product within the scanned field, the reflection of that radiation by the mirrored drum onto the measuring cell provides a signal which is converted into a "measuring" pulse. In addition, the sensor generates a reference pulse, which corresponds to the beginning of the scanned field. The time "t" between the reference pulse and the measuring pulse is equivalent to the angle "a" between the beginning of the...

NOTE: When the temperature of the product is expected to always exceed 400 °C (750 °F) it is not advisable to use the high sensitivity model, as it might detect scale or reflections. For other materials such as copper, brass, alloys, etc., the temperature range is dependant on the product infrared emissivity. Consult DELTA for these products. • Optimum distance between the sensor and various products (depending on the temperature) : The sensor detects the first edge of the product within the scanned field, i.e. the first transition "no radiation / presence of radiation", direction of scanning...
