Product catalog summary
Overview
This document provides guidance on selecting digital I/O accessory boards for PMAC systems, detailing the specifications and features of various accessories to aid in choosing the appropriate one for specific needs.
Accessory 14D/V
  • 48 I/O points per board, up to six boards per PMAC.
  • 100 mA per channel, up to 24V.
  • Hardware selectable between sinking and sourcing in groups of eight; defaults to 5V totem-pole or 24V sinking.
  • Not opto-isolated; designed for easy connection to Opto-22 and similar boards.
  • Parallel communications to PMAC through the JEXP port.
Accessory 34
  • 64 I/O points per board, up to 32 boards per PMAC.
  • 400 mA per channel, up to 30V.
  • Sinking inputs and outputs only, software selectable in groups of 32.
  • Opto-isolated with serial communications to PMAC.
  • Requires PMAC firmware version 1.13 or higher.
Accessory 34A
  • 64 I/O points per board, up to 32 boards per PMAC.
  • 100 mA per channel, up to 24V.
  • Hardware selectable between sinking and sourcing in groups of eight; default is all sourcing.
  • Opto-isolated with serial communications to PMAC.
  • Requires PMAC firmware version 1.13 or higher.
Accessory 27
  • 16 I/O points per board, one board only per PMAC.
  • 100 mA per channel, up to 24V.
  • Hardware selectable between sinking and sourcing in groups of eight; default is all sinking.
  • Opto-isolated with parallel communications to PMAC.
PMAC’s JOPTO Port
  • For PMAC PC, Lite, and VME: 16 I/O points, 100 mA per channel, up to 24V, not opto-isolated.
  • For PMAC-STD: 24 I/O points, 12 mA per channel, up to 5V, sinking only, not opto-isolated.
Notes
  • Hardware selectable options require decisions at the time of order, though field changes are possible.
  • Software selectable options can be changed programmatically at any time.

Application Note Several accessory boards provide discrete digital I/O for PMAC, as well as the digital I/O ports on PMAC itself. This document is intended to help choose the right accessory. > The Acc-14D for the PMAC PC and PMAC Lite, and the Acc-14V for the PMAC VME (Acc-14 is not available for the PMAC STD) have the following characteristics: 48 I/O points per board Up to six boards per PMAC 100 mA per channel, up to 24V Hardware selectable between sinking and sourcing (and totem-pole) in groups of eight; defaults are 5V totem-pole (Option 1; not meant for direct drive intended for Opto-22 or similar connection) or 24V sinking (Option 2) Hardware selectable between inputs and outputs in groups of eight; default is 24 inputs and 24 outputs Not opto-isolated; designed for easy connection to Opto-22 (PB24) and similar boards with Acc-21G cable Parallel (fast) communications to PMAC through the JEXP port Note: Acc-14 can be used also for parallel position feedback by ordering Option 3. This does not come under the category of discrete I/O, so it is not covered here. > The Acc-34, which can connect to any of the versions of PMAC, has the following characteristics: 64 I/O points per board Up to 32 boards per PMAC 400 mA per channel, up to 30V Sinking inputs and outputs only Software selectable between inputs and output in groups of 32 - Opto-isolated Serial (slow) communications to PMAC through the thumbwheel port Requires PMAC firmware version 1.13 or higher (for TWS M-variable form) > The Acc-34A, which can connect to any of the versions of PMAC, has the following characteristics: 64 I/`O points per board Up to 32 boards per PMAC 100 mA per channel, up to 24V Hardware selectable between sinking and sourcing in groups of eight; default is all sourcing Hardware selectable between inputs and outputs in groups of 32; default is 32 inputs and 32 outputs Opto-isolated Serial (slow) communications to PMAC through the thumbwheel port Requires PMAC firmware version 1.13 or higher (for TWS M-Variable form) > Selecting Digital I/O Accessories for PMAC 1 size="-1">
