Delphi FAKRA Connectors

Delphi FAKRA Connectors

Delphi FAKRA Connectors

Product catalog summary
Overview
Delphi FAKRA Connectors are RF coaxial cable terminals with plastic housings designed for high-quality and performance connections in automotive applications. They are available in various key codes and colors, suitable for both male and female configurations.
Manufacturing Process
The connectors are produced using an innovative process that is more efficient and cost-effective than traditional methods. This process reduces labor and manufacturing costs, making Delphi's connectors more affordable than competitors.
Specifications
  • Electrical Performance: Impedance of 50 Ω, frequency range from DC to 3 GHz, and a VSWR of 1.40 max (DC to 2 GHz) and 1.50 max (2 GHz to 3 GHz). Insertion loss is ≤ 0.3 dB, with isolation resistance at 100 MΩ minimum and contact resistance under 40 mΩ.
  • Mechanical Performance: Mating durability of 100 cycles minimum, engagement force ≤ 40 N, and mechanical pull test at 110 N for 5 seconds.
  • Materials: Plastic housing made of PBT polyester, center and outer contacts of brass with gold and tin over nickel plating, respectively, and TFE terminal insulator.
Benefits
Delphi FAKRA Connectors offer several advantages, including cost-effectiveness, compatibility with existing FAKRA devices, and availability in all standard key codes and colors. They also feature crimp automation and do not require pre-assembly.
Applications
These connectors are ideal for automotive RF coaxial cable applications, such as satellite radios, GPS navigation, mobile phones, and terrestrial radios.
Performance Advantages
Delphi provides high-performance connection systems by leveraging advanced manufacturing technology and engineering expertise to deliver optimal solutions for customer needs.

Delphi FAKRA Connectors-1

CONNECTION SYSTEMS Delphi FAKRA Connectors Delphi FAKRA Connectors consist of radio-frequency (RF) coaxial cable terminals and plastic housings. They are used to connect coaxial cable assemblies without sacrificing quality or performance. Both male and female single and dual position plastic housings are available in the full range of key codes and colors. The Delphi FAKRA terminals are manufactured via an innovative manufacturing process that is more efficient and cost-effective when compared to the traditional screw-machined method. The cable assembly crimp process saves labor and manufacturing floor space. In fact, the process enables Delphi’s FAKRA Connectors to cost less than competitive products and also significantly reduce complete coaxial cable assembly costs. Delphi FAKRA Connectors are designed to meet FAKRA and USCAR (United States Council for Automotive Research) specifications. Benefits • • • • • • Female single-position terminals with coaxial cable and plastic housing that can be designed with multiple colors and key codes for easy identification. More efficient and cost-effective than traditional screw-machined alternatives Crimp automation enabled by the use of carrier-fed terminals No connector/terminal pre-assembly required Mate to existing FAKRA devices Optional clip slot included on female connector allows use of standard Delphi clip All standard key codes and colors are available Typical Applications The Delphi FAKRA Connectors are suited for automotive applications that use RF coaxial cable, such as RG-58 and RG-174. Applications can include: • • • • Satellite radios GPS (global positioning systems) navigation Mobile phones Terrestrial radios (AM/FM) www.delphi.com | © Delphi. All rights reserved. | 1
