Multi Differential Relay, MDR-2

Product catalog summary
Overview: The Multi Differential Relay, MDR-2, is designed for current differential protection of 3-phase generators or motors, safeguarding against internal short circuits and leaking currents. It is suitable for both marine and land applications, offering digital speed, accuracy, and reliability.
Key Features:
  • Fail Tripping Prevention: The MDR-2 includes an adjustable tripping characteristic function to compensate for unbalanced current measurements, preventing unnecessary tripping.
  • Display and Diagnostics: An integrated LCD display shows all measured and calculated values, aiding in fault-finding and commissioning by indicating fault locations. It also provides access to settings and a log list of up to 150 historical events/alarms.
  • Optional Protection Features: The MDR-2 can be equipped with short circuit and overcurrent protection (option C3) and block protection (option C4) for generators/motors with step-up transformers, including transformer ratio adjustments and harmonics suppression.
  • Approvals: The device is marine-approved by major classification societies such as LR, GL, and DNV, and is UL/cUL Listed.
Applications: The MDR-2 is applicable in both marine and land environments, providing comprehensive protection and reducing the need for additional current relays, thus lowering costs.

Multi Differential Relay, MDR-2-2

The MDR-2 is a current differential protection relay for protection of a 3-phase generator/motor against internal short circuits (leaking currents). The MDR-2 can be used in marine and land applications. Avoid fail tripping Different cable lengths or different types of current transformers will cause saturation of the current transformers at different points in time, e.g. in case of a short circuit. This often leads to tripping of the differential current protection device, even though no differential current occurs at all. The MDR-2 offers an adjustable tripping characteristic function that...
