Abstract
De Angeli Prodotti, in collaboration with a partner, has developed a new technology for railway conductors that aims to enhance customer satisfaction by introducing a novel product to the market.

Introduction
Traditional railway conductors are typically made of copper due to its excellent conductivity, achieving 100% IACS. However, the high cost of copper makes it a target for theft, especially when conductors are installed at ground level.

Engineering
The new technology developed by De Angeli Prodotti replaces copper with a special thermal-resistant aluminium alloy. The design includes a steel wire core covered with annealed aluminium, followed by a layer of thermal aluminium alloy with trapezoidal and round wires. The conductor is then covered with a tape and a double layer of co-extruded polymer.

Advantages
This innovative cable design eliminates the use of copper, reducing costs and making it less attractive to thieves. Despite aluminium's higher electrical resistance, the cable maintains the same ampacity as copper conductors and can operate at higher temperatures.

Conclusions
De Angeli Prodotti's new cable technology for railway applications has been well-received, with over 200 km already installed and plans for an additional 500 km. The product has achieved high customer satisfaction.
