Technical Details
The ETS AC Conversion Pack is available in packages ranging from 20 hp to 500 hp. A comparison of DC and AC energy consumption shows that a DC system consumes 5 to 15% more power than an AC system at 100 RPM. Trials conducted at the Davis-Standard technical center used a 2 1/2-inch (64 mm) 30:1 smooth bore extruder with both DC and AC motors and drives. The same extrusion screw timing was used for HDPE 0.3 MI and PP 20 MFR materials, with power data recorded using a Fluke power analyzer.

ETS AC CONVERSION PACK DC ENERGY CONSUMPTION vs EXTRUDER SPEED NORMALIZED vs AC DRIVE SYSTEM In operating range, a 100 RPM, DC system consumes 5 to 15% MORE power than an AC system. This chart details the results of AC and DC motor trials in our Davis-Standard technical center. Trials were run on a 2 1/2-inch (64 mm) 30:1 smooth bore extruder.
