Thermostatic expansion valves for ammonia, type TEA

Product catalog summary
Overview: Thermostatic expansion valves (TEA) are designed to regulate refrigerant liquid injection into evaporators, controlled by refrigerant superheat. They are ideal for 'dry' evaporators where superheat at the evaporator outlet is proportional to the evaporator load.
Key Features:
  • Temperature range: -50 °C to +30 °C, suitable for freezing and refrigeration systems.
  • Interchangeable orifice assemblies and thermostatic elements.
  • Rated capacities from 3.5 to 295 kW (1 to 85 tons).
  • External superheat setting for optimal evaporator utilization.
  • Patented double contact bulb for fast installation and good temperature transfer.
  • Certified by DNV, CRN, BV, EAC, etc.
Functions: The TEA valve consists of three main components: thermostatic element, orifice assembly, and valve body with flange connections. It features external equalization and a double contact bulb for precise temperature response. The valve is not designed to close completely tight, requiring a solenoid valve to shut off liquid supply when the system stops.
Media: Primarily used with refrigerant R717 (Ammonia). Danfoss evaluates products for compatibility with new refrigerants based on market needs.
Specifications:
  • Pressure and temperature ranges: Evaporating temperature from -50 °C to +30 °C, max bulb temperature 100 °C, max working pressure 19 bar, and max test pressure 28.5 bar.
  • Materials: Valve housing made of GGG40.3, non-asbestos gaskets.
Dimensions and Weights: Detailed dimensions and weights are provided for different TEA models.
Ordering Information: Includes type, rated capacity, connection sizes, and code numbers for various TEA models.
Capacities: Detailed tables provide capacities in kW for different temperature ranges and pressure drops.
Certificates and Approvals: Lists various certificates and approvals for the TEA product type, including EAC, RoHS, and CRN.
Support and Resources: Danfoss offers extensive online support, including product information, technical documentation, and learning resources through their website and Danfoss Learning platform.

Data Sheet Regulate and monitor ammonia and fluorinated refrigerants in industrial refrigeration systems Thermostatic expansion valves regulate the injection of refrigerant liquid into evaporators. Injection is controlled by the refrigerant superheat. Therefore the valves are especially suitable for liquid injection in ,,dry" evaporators where the superheat at the evaporator outlet follows the evaporator load proportionally. • Large temperature range: -50 °C - +30 °C Can be used in both freezing and refrigeration systems • Interchangeable orifice assemblies • Interchangeable thermostatic element • Rated capacities from 3.5 - 295 kW, 1 - 85 tons (TR) • External superheat setting Can be matched to all evaporators to give optimum evaporator utilization • Patented double contact bulb Fast and easy to install. Good temperature transfer from tube to bulb • Classification: DNV, CRN, BV, EAC etc. To get an updated list of certification on the products please contact your local Danfoss Sales Company

Thermostatic expansion valves for ammonia, Type TEA Functions TEA is equipped with interchangeable orifice assembly and thermostatic element. TEA is built up of three interchangeable main components: • Thermostatic element (1) • Orifice assembly (2) • Valve body (3), with flange connections The valve has external equalization. A separate outlet orifice assembly (10) is for use with TEA 20-1 (3.5 kW) only. The double contact bulb gives fast and precise reaction to temperature changes in the evaporator suction line, even with much reduced evaporator load. It also makes fitting the bulb quick and...

Thermostatic expansion valves for ammonia, Type TEA Media Refrigerants Refrigerant R717 - NH3(Ammonia) New refrigerants Danfoss products are continually evaluated for use with new refrigerants depending on market requirements. When a refrigerant is approved for use by Danfoss, it is added to the relevant portfolio, and the R number of the refrigerant (e.g. R513A) will be added to the technical data of the code number. Therefore, products for specific refrigerants are best checked at store.danfoss.com/en/, or by contacting your local Danfoss representative. © Danfoss | Climate Solutions | 2023.02...
