Product catalog summary
Introduction
The PD 600 series of Distributed Process Intelligence units (DPIs) are the third generation of P-NET fieldbus programmable master devices. They are designed for use in both complex and simple process control systems and can be mounted on a DIN rail for easy installation and communication via the Light-Link interface.
Features
The PD 600 DPI acts as a gateway between the P-NET system (RS 485) and local clusters via Light-Link P-NET. Key features include a real-time clock with battery backup, up to 480 Kbytes RAM, up to 2 Mbytes FLASH memory, LED state indicators, low power consumption, and Process-Pascal programmability.
Communication Interface
Channel 1 is for standard P-NET RS 485 communication, while Channel 2 is for P-NET Light-Link communication with locally mounted devices.
Programming
The device is programmed in Process-Pascal, an extension of Pascal, allowing easy use of P-NET variables. Programs are developed on a PC and downloaded via a P-NET interface.
Memory
Available in three versions (Small, Medium, Large), the PD 600 DPI features RAM for temporary data and FLASH memory for programs and static data. FLASH memory can be reprogrammed up to 100,000 times.
LED Indicators
The device has two LED indicators: "Error" (red) and "On" (green), which indicate the device's state.
Battery Backup
A replaceable lithium battery supports the real-time clock and RAM backup, with a lifespan of approximately 7 years when powered and 3 years when unpowered.
Real-Time Clock
The clock circuit, with battery backup, has a deviation of about 3 minutes per month over the full temperature range.
Technical Specifications
Dimensions, maritime approvals, weight, power supply requirements, and operating temperatures are specified. The device supports RS485 and Light Link interfaces and uses a replaceable Panasonic BR 1632 battery.

Product Data Sheet SD 8704-2E01 August 2008 Introduction The PD 600 series of Distributed Process Intelligence units - DPIs - has been developed as the 3rd generation of P-NET fieldbus programmable master devices, for use as distributed computing elements within highly complex as well as simple process control systems. The PD 600 series is part of a new family of standard process control devices, which can be mounted on a DIN rail. When mounted, communication is automatically enabled through the Light-Link interface. Power is applied to all devices on the same rail by a common power bar. These...
