Product Description: Apollo H-4 is a fast-setting, low to medium viscosity
cyanoacrylate adhesive suitable for various substrates, including wood, leather, and fiberglass mat. It is designed for rapid adhesion and filling small gaps.
Physical Properties: The adhesive is a colorless liquid with a viscosity of 100 cP at 68°F and a specific gravity of 1.06. It has a flash point of 185°F and a shelf life of one year when stored at 40°F.
Military Specifications: Complies with Mil-A-46050C, Type II, Class 2.
Curing Properties: Curing begins with ambient moisture, reaching handling strength quickly. Full cure and resistance develop over 24 hours. Setting times vary by substrate, e.g., steel (8-12 seconds), aluminum (8-14 seconds), and pine (2-5 seconds).
Curing Performance: Smaller bond gaps increase set speed. Activators can enhance speed but may reduce adhesive performance.
Polymer (Cured) Properties: The cured adhesive is a colorless solid with a service temperature range of -65°F to 200°F, a softening point of 329°F, and a tensile strength of 3200 psi for steel/steel bonds.
Performance of Cured Materials: Tensile shear strength varies by substrate, e.g., blasted steel (18-26 N/mm²) and etched aluminum (11-18 N/mm²).
Temperature Resistance: Shear strength on steel retains significant strength across a range of temperatures.
Chemical Resistance: The adhesive retains strength after exposure to various solvents, e.g., gasoline (100%) and motor oil (90%), but not to 10% NaOH, 10% HCl, or water.
General Instructions: Surfaces should be clean and dry. Apply a thin film and press parts together for a few seconds. Maximum strength is achieved in 24 hours. Store products in a cool, dry place, and bring to room temperature before use.
